Project/ Department Summary

Mercy Corps has implemented several key programs in the South and North of the country in key sectors such as agriculture and food security, skills development, renewable energy, natural resources management, community infrastructure, and job creation. More recently, Mercy Corps completed a WASH program focused on some of the major IDP/returnee settlements in and around Herat city in Western Afghanistan. Mercy Corps is currently preparing to implement a new program to support the earthquake in the Herat province. This 6-month program is expected to provide access to water and sanitation facilities, promoting Hygiene to the affected villages in Herat province.

Job Description:

Background: The “Lifesaving Integrated Emergency Response to vulnerable crisis-affected populations in Afghanistan” (BHA)” program is a humanitarian intervention that aims to provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable households affected by the protracted conflict leading to the economic crisis in Herat Kandahar and Balkh provinces. The program is funded by BHA USAID and implemented by Mercy Corps-Afghanistan (MCA)

Objectives: Door-to-door registration of identified vulnerable households in the project target location.

Deliverables: Program participants are properly registered using the predefined criteria and ONA platform in Bakh and Kandahar provinces.

Responsibilities: Enumerators are responsible for proper and accurate registration of 350 participants in Kandahar and 840 households in Herat. The registration of HHs will be through the online ONA platform. Other responsibilities are as follows:

  • Adapt and apply information acquired from the orientation session on how to carry out the data collection and report daily work done.
  • Check that the tools and materials necessary to carry out the data collection are sufficient and appropriate.
  • Introduce yourself, explaining who you are and for whom you are working in a manner that facilitates the active participation of individuals.
  • Motivate and obtain the permission of the respondent/ participants (CDC Member, Program Participant, and Government official) for the interview.
  • Conduct the interviews by asking questions clearly and asking all the questions exactly as worded.
  • Probe to clarify unclear answers & and record the responses accurately.
  • Double-check and revise the completed questionnaires at the end for accuracy, consistency, and completion before submitting or uploading them on the data server.
  • Compile, record, and code information derived from specified forms into a predefined COBO system.
  • Represent MCA and the project to stakeholders when required in local languages.
  • Report the work progress daily.
  • Any additional duty or task related to the project work assigned by the reporting line.

Timeframe / Schedule:  01, January to 28 February 2023 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The Enumerators will be managed by: Enumerators’ work will be managed by Cash and NFI Coordinator and Program Officers. Enumerators are responsible for reporting all field activities to the Program team.

The Enumerators will work closely with: After the recruitment process all the Enumerators will be oriented on the required stages of implementation and during the registration process, they are obliged to work closely with the Program team specifically Cash and NFI Coordinator and Program Officers.
