Organizational Setting

FAO Country Offices, working under overall corporate guidance and in line with the Strategic Framework, offer policy advice and support to countries in the mandated areas of FAO, facilitated through partnerships, resources and an active country programme to provide technical assistance, develop capacities and deliver core services while fully observing international standards of accountability to establish leadership and strengthen impact at the country level.
The offices deliver on the programmatic priorities of each country as agreed in their respective Country Programming Frameworks (CPFs) aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and ensure effective and efficient operations with adequate human and financial resources.
Specifically, FAO Country Offices:
• advocate, inform and support policies and investments in the areas of FAO’s mandate;
• provide technical assistance and deliver core services;
• assist and catalyse partnership and resource mobilization activities to support agrifood systems transformation;
• position FAO as the specialized/authoritative technical agency in food and agriculture and agrifood systems transformation; and
• ensure risk-smart and accountable operations and management.
Reporting Lines
This is an SC-1 level position and he/she will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Bangladesh, Deputy FAO Representative and direct supervision of the Livestock Development Specialist (Team Leader), the Driver will provide vehicle support to the FAO Bangladesh livestock project.
Technical focus
The incumbent ensures the safety and comfort of the passengers and longevity of the vehicles assigned. S/he shows a high sense of responsibility and trustworthiness and handle passengers and clients with utmost courtesy and respect.Tasks and responsibilities
• Drive and maintain the assigned vehicle of the project office.
• Conduct routine checks such as battery, engine oil, water level, tire condition, brakes, oil filter, air filter etc.
• Keep updated logbooks for the assigned vehicle, obtain passenger signature for each trip verifying starting and ending odometer readings and noting odometer readings at the time of refueling.
• Ensure that regular servicing maintenance and repair work is informed and are also done/completed on time with high standard (in consultation with transport supervisor)
• Adhere to all rules and requirements as per Government of Bangladesh and UN/FAO procedures, including incase of accidents or emergencies.
• Maintain the vehicle’s hygienic and immaculate quality and make sure that the vehicle is in a good condition including all equipment.
• Always take appropriate precautions for the security of the vehicle and its contents, including when left unattended.
• Ensure the office vehicle is properly and securely parked in the designated place during and or non-working hours.
• Support and ensure to dispatch or collect the letter/documents to the respective government office, departments other UN agencies, donors including other stakeholders.
• Follow the rules, procedures, practices about FAO vehicle operations and UNDSS radio communication policies and procedures.
• Be professional, courteous in all engagements, stay calm and positive even in difficult moments, handle tense situations with diplomacy and tact, and have a consistent behaviour towards others.
• Demonstration an appreciation and respect for the multicultural nature of the organization and the diversity of its staff.
• Must be willing to help/support the office with any other assistance when needed.
• Willingness to support during the weekends, in case of any emergency nature of activities.
• Regular review/check up on the fitness, insurance, registration validity, battery etc. and inform to transport supervisor well ahead for further action.
• Perform any other related tasks as assigned from the office or by the respective supervisor.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma
• Valid driving license
• Minimum 08 years of relevant experience in any reputed national/ international organization
• Working knowledge of English.

• Experience to work with UN agency would be an asset.
