Objective of the programme:

The objective of the programme is to deliver WHO Core functions at country level with a particular focus on the Organization’s directing and coordinating role for international health as expressed in the Constitution. The immediate Objective is to develop and sustain WHO as a flexible, learning Organization, enabling it to carry out its mandate more efficiently and effectively.

To provide technical support to National EPI in strengthening capacity for routine immunization and disease surveillance, improve vaccine access, introduce cost-effective vaccines, and sustain control of vaccine-preventable diseases, including polio and measles.

Description of duties:

Under the overall guidance of the Team Leader, IVD Programmeand the direct supervision of WHO IVD Divisional Coordinator/Surveillance Medical Officer, the incumbent will provide transport support to WHO filed operations and will perform the following duties:

Drive WHO official vehicle(s) to provide transport support to authorized personnel in the program implementation.
Delivery and collection of mails, documents and other items/commodities, including loading and unloading program materials as directed by Supervisor.
Properly maintain daily vehicle check, ensure filling up prescribed daily logbooks in timely manner. Maintain master logbook, when necessary, in significant matters (incident, maintenance and repair etc.)
Monitor periodic vehicle maintenance due date and inform supervisor ahead of due time. Report if any problem found immediately to supervisor or any repair necessary. Be present to monitor maintenance and repair works are done satisfactorily.
Keep the assigned vehicle clean and in a good condition, including its all equipment. Ensure the vehicle MOSS items are available, items in firs aid box are valid/updated, report to supervisor before expiry.
Follow the country traffic law and UN-WHO driving rules and regulations for driving and deliveries. In cases of accident, follow the established procedures in accordance with local government procedures and UN-WHO safety protocol.
Follow the instruction of WHO Fleet Services (WFS) time to time as and when instructed by WHO BAN Fleet manager. Report asked information to Fleet operator as and when necessary.
Follow safe driving rules, practices defensive driving lessons ensure safety of vehicle and WHO personnel while driving. Ensure WHO waiver form is signed of if any Non-Un personnel needs to be transported in WHO vehicle for program purpose.
Provide basic official assistance to supervisor in related program activity, tasks such as filing, photocopying and delivery/collection of various mails and other as necessary by supervisor.
Required Qualifications:

Education:

Essential:

Middle level education (at least SSC standard).

Desirable:

Higher Secondary Certificate.

Training and requirement

Essential:

Must hold a valid National Professional driving license.
Having documents (National Identity Card, Educational & experience certificate and driving license ) with no mismatch in name and date of birth.
Desirable:

Knowledge of first aid.
Formal certificate in vehicle maintenance.
Safe / defensive driving certification will be an asset.
Experience:

Essential:

At least three years’ work experience as a driver.

Desirable:

Work experience with UN offices, international organizations, embassies would be an advantage and/or minimum of two years.
Driving experience in the other reputed offices.
Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans, trucks and other kinds of motorized vehicles.

Functional Knowledge and skills:

Must have provided evidence of good eyesight (vision).
Sound knowledge of driving rules and regulations and security issues.
Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and skills in minor repairs of vehicles.
Knowledge of the topography of the duty station and the surrounding areas.
Ability to read and write instructions and maps; Knowledge of safety standards and safety equipment first aid desirable.
Knowledge and ability to use radio, email, telephone and other applications.
Ability to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy and tact.

Knowing and managing yourself
Computer Literacy:

knowledge on MS office / Computer certificate

Languages:

Must have good command in Bengali (local language) both in written and spoken. Must have good comprehension of oral and written English (official language of WHO-Bangladesh)

Monthly salary: BDT 43,614.00 (SSA – 2, Step I) (non-negotiable)
