OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
To provide transportation support to the WHO BAN office within the country.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the overall guidance of Compliance Officer and direct supervision of Executive Assistant (Protocol and Travel) and fleet despatcher, the incumbent performs the following duties:
1. Provide transport support to authorized personnel in the program implementation; and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items/commodities, including loading and unloading from vehicle, as directed by Supervisor following authorized routing and UN safety and security rules and regulations and report any traffic disruptions or incidents caused by civil unrest.
2. Ensure accurate/proper maintenance of the vehicle log books (including Master Logbook) and daily reporting to the fleet despatcher/supervisor on mechanical issues status ensuring efficient vehicle use and fuel consumption supporting accurate accounting and cost-efficiency.
3. Maintain the assigned vehicle cleanliness, in a good road worthy condition, including all equipment i.e. First Aid box and SRMM items and ensuring that any major mechanical issues are reported to the fleet despatcher/supervisor immediately. Any regular servicing or maintenance repair work should be monitored both for correctness and for accomplishment on time, as requested.
4. Follow traffic law of the country, rules and practices with regard to UN/WHO fleet management policy, UNDSS instruction, safe/defense driving of WHO fleet services, transporting non-UN personnel, other rules and SOPs as established at WHO-Bangladesh.
5. Take suitable precautions for the security of the office vehicle and its contents when left unattended and ensure office vehicle is properly parked in the designated place during non-working hours.
6. If required, perform basic office related tasks such as filing, photocopying and maintaining stores including delivery/collection of various items, mailing service and payment of bills to ensure administrative support to Country Office.
7. Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: Middle level education (at least 8th standard). Must hold a valid national ‘Professional’ driving license.
Desirable: Higher School Certificate, Knowledge of first aid training is desirable Safe/defensive driving certification will be an asset. Formal certificate in vehicle maintenance; Computer certificate/ knowledge on MS office will also be an asset.
Experience
Essential: At least two years’ work experience as a driver, with demonstrated safe driving record.
Desirable:
·Work experience with UN offices, international organizations, embassies would be an advantage and/or minimum of two years driving experience in the other reputed offices.
·Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans, mini trucks and other kinds of motorized vehicles.
Skills
Must be in possession of a valid driving license; Must have provided evidence of good eye sight (vision); Sound knowledge of driving rules and regulations and security issues; Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and skills in minor repairs of vehicles; Knowledge of the topography of the duty station and the surrounding areas; Ability to read and write instructions and maps; Knowledge of safety standards and safety equipment first aid desirable; Knowledge and ability to use radio, email, telephone and other applications; Ability to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy and tact..
Having legal documents (National ID cards and Driving License) with no mismatch in names and date of birth.

REMUNERATION
WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at BDT 916,661 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
