Education Officer

IRC Germany was founded in 2016 and is active nationwide in the areas of education, career and orientation as well as protection, legal advice and participation.
One focus in the area of education is on promoting the psychosocial well-being of refugee children and young people.Healing-Classroomsapproach, IRC supports educators in creating a safe environment for refugee children and young people and strengthening their resilience.
To continue our work in the early childhood sector, we are seeking a part-time or full-time (32-40 hours per week) speaker in Berlin or remotely as soon as possible. As part of our educational work, we develop and implement training and networking opportunities for professionals from daycare centers and elementary schools. Our focus regions have so far been Magdeburg/Saxony-Anhalt, Schwerin/Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Cottbus/Berlin, Braunschweig/Salzgitter, and Bremen. With our work, we aim to respond to nationwide requests for training in the early childhood sector and the transition to elementary school, and to specifically strengthen institutions through continuing education formats and materials. To ensure the long-term embedding of our approach, we also focus on expanding local networks with early childhood education stakeholders. The role involves regular business trips, particularly to the project locations and/or Berlin, and therefore requires a high level of willingness to travel.
Your area of activity
- Conception, organization and moderation of continuing education and networking events (online and face-to-face formats) for pedagogical staff from daycare centers nationwide
- Maintaining existing cooperations and networks, as well as developing new cooperation strategies with educational institutions, educational providers and public and private partners in the relevant subject area
- (Further) development of diversity-sensitive training and practical materials for everyday educational practice
- Collaboration with the nationwide project team to further develop the program design, support in application processes
- Continuous impact monitoring and documentation to ensure appropriate accountability and continuous improvement
- Conducting needs analyses, feedback surveys and other forms of client engagement
- Contribute to reporting and documentation of experiences to communicate IRC’s work in education
Your profile
- Relevant university degree, vocational training or equivalent experience demonstrating the required skills and knowledge.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in the field of (adult) education and/or experience in practical work with children and young people and cooperation with educational institutions.
- Experience and knowledge in the methodological and didactic development of discrimination-sensitive practical materials and units
- Enjoyment in planning and conducting workshops and meeting formats
- Strong commitment to refugee rights and the promotion of gender, equality, diversity and inclusion (GEDI) as core aspects of IRC’s work and main motivation for engagement
- Existing networks with relevant actors, especially daycare centers and ideally with refugee communities
- German and English skills at least B2 level according toCommon European Framework of Reference. Additional language skills spoken by the indirect target group are an advantage.
- Confident use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Reliable teamwork and independent work, flexibility and a high degree of initiative and improvisational talent.
