About MEDAIR:

Medair is an international humanitarian organization established in 1988. Medair has been operating in Afghanistan since 1996 with programs mainly in the Health, Water & Sanitation, and Livelihoods sectors with significant reconstruction activities in remote areas. Current projects are Water & Sanitation, Food Security, & Disaster Risk Reduction.

An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair aims to respond to high levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and morbidity in Tirinkot district.  The project intends to improve and extend WASH services including water supply infrastructure and hygiene practices to improve outcomes for vulnerable families.

An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair aims to respond to high levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and morbidity in Uruzgan, which has been significantly affected by drought and conflict conditions. Building upon Medair’s decades of experience in the Central Highlands and Kandahar, the project intends to improve and extend the utilization of lifesaving preventive and curative nutrition and health services by mothers, PLWs, and children U5; to increase access to clean water, to reduce vulnerability to water-related and other preventable diseases, and to improve and increase food security for the most vulnerable families through food voucher distributions.

Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The enumerator works under the overall guidance of team leader and survey supervisor.
  • Participate to SMART survey training.
  • Understand household selection process.
  • Conduct height, weight, and mid-upper arm circumference measurements.
  • Conduction interviews on other indicators and ensuring completeness of the forms.
  • Identify bilateral edema and estimate age using local resources.
  • Adhere to schedule for measurements, breaks, and meals.
  • Maintain equipment and prioritize security.
  • Identify malnourished children.
  • Generate referrals for malnourished children.
  • Ensure the data collection forms are recorded accurately.
  • Ensure timely submission of data/forms.
  • Coordinate with team leader and survey supervisor and report on daily any problems or challenges encountered during fieldwork.
  • Other duties assigned by team leader and survey supervisor in the field.

Job Requirements:

Education: Graduated from 12th grade (high school).

Experience: Work experience in data collection/survey, preferable to have experience of SMART survey is required and at least 6 months of experience is desirable.

Language Skills: Fluent in Pashto and Dari is required and possess English reading and writing skills is desirable.

Confidentiality: Strictly maintain confidentiality.

Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure, ability to work in cross-culture context, willing to work in a hardship area.

Character: Honest and conscientious.

Other skills:

  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and patience.
  • Ability to overcome challenges and work in difficult work environments/conditions.
  • Be able and willing to travel to the most remote location/communities in the districts of Uruzgan province.
  • Be physically fit for long walks and equipment carrying.
  • Be able to take anthropometric measurements.
