SKILLS

  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds.

Responsibilities & Context

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The main incumbent role will be to carry out data collection on displacement, mobility, needs and living conditions, ensure accurate data and reporting, and follow IOM guidelines. Travel and professional conduct are required, with other duties as assigned.

Project Context and Scope: : IOM’s Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) unit works closely with the Inter-Sector Coordination Group (ISCG), the Sectors, other IOM units, and various organizations to support evidence-based humanitarian decision-making and prioritization by tracking needs and vulnerabilities through designing and conducting a wide range of assessments among both Rohingya and the host communities in Cox’s Baza, and by providing technical information management and GIS (mapping) support.

The Enumerator will be under the overall supervision of the NPM Coordinator, NPM Operations Assistant in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh and the direct supervision of the Senior Team Leader and Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for conduct field assessments and

various activities which will be developed within the NPM unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Category A Consultants – Tasks to be performed under this contract:

  • Carry out assessments to gather data on displacement, population mobility, movement flows, needs, access to services, living conditions, and any other relevant data as assigned by the Team Leader. This includes regular field visits to various settlement types and establishing a network of key informants in targeted areas.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, religious leaders, key informants, local representatives, and service providers to conduct in-depth quantitative assessments that accurately reflect the community’s needs, challenges, vulnerabilities, and protection concerns.
  • Provide support to other IOM enumerator teams in their data collection and research efforts, as needed, ensuring consistency and quality across all activities.
  • Ensure that all assessment data is submitted on time and is accurate, adhering to NPM guidelines and IOM’s Data Protection Manual to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of the data collected.
  • Travel to data collection sites as required, ensuring strict adherence to IOM’s security protocols and safety guidelines during field activities.
  • Regularly monitor and report on evolving population movements, trends, and dynamics, providing qualitative insights to keep IOM updated on developments in the field.
  • Report to the direct supervisor on the status of assessment implementation, highlighting progress, challenges, and any issues encountered in obtaining data. Proactively address irregularities and shortfalls.
  • Conduct all activities in a professional manner, ensuring compliance with PSEA principles, IOM policies, procedures, and core values. Treat beneficiaries and key informants with respect and dignity.
  • Carry out any additional tasks or duties as directed by the supervisor to support the successful implementation of IOM’s activities.
