This organization has been registered under the registration number (115) in the ministry of economy of Afghanistan that has activities in the far and non-developed areas of Ghor, Badghis, Faryab and Herat Provinces of Afghanistan from for over two decades. During these two decades, World Vision Afghanistan (WVA) has been addressing needs of children, their families and their communities in areas such as health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food security and livelihoods, education and child protection.

The organisation has been able to support more than 2.8 million Afghans, including 1.3 million children, through its various interventions in 2023.

Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this job is to ensure comprehensive and accurate data collection through structured interviews and surveys. This role is essential for gathering reliable data from diverse and remote locations, documenting conditions and behaviors, building trust with community leaders, and encouraging respondent participation. They maintain confidentiality, provide daily updates, compile data, obtain informed consent, and offer feedback to improve data quality. Additionally, they address field-level challenges, adapt to changing circumstances, and ensure all interactions are conducted with honesty and transparency.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Survey Administration: Conduct interviews and surveys using structured questionnaires in various locations.
      • Field Travels: Travel to diverse, including remote, areas for data collection.
      • Observation: Document relevant conditions and behaviors.
      • Accurate Recording: Ensure precise documentation of responses into platforms and pre-designed formats.
      • Data Verification: Cross-check and correct collected data.
      • Language Translation: Translate questions and responses in local languages (Dari and Pashto) during interviews, preserving meaning.
      • Clear Communication: Explain the survey’s purpose and ensure respondent understanding.
      • Building Trust: Engage with community leaders to establish cooperation.
      • Respondent Sensitization: Educate and encourage respondent participation.
      • Daily Reporting: Provide daily updates on data collection progress.
      • Data Compilation: Systematically compile data for submission.
      • Confidentiality: Maintain respondent privacy and data protection.
      • Informed Consent: Obtain consent, ensuring respondents understand the data’s purpose.
      • Feedback Implementation: Provide feedback to improve data quality.
      • Reporting and Addressing Field-Level Challenges: Timely report all challenges encountered during the survey. Coordinate with the line supervisor to resolve these issues promptly.
    • Flexibility: Adapt to changing circumstances during fieldwork.
    • Honesty and Transparency: Ensure all interactions and data reporting are conducted with integrity and openness

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

    • Education: High school graduate.
    • Data Collection Experience: Experience in quantitative and qualitative methods (FGDs, KIIs, Household Surveys, etc.), and familiar with the types of surveys (baseline, evaluation, Satisfaction survey, Market Assessment, Beneficiary verification, PDM, etc.).
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency with data collection tools and software – Kobo Collect, ODK…etc.
    • Language Skills: Fluent in the local languages (Dari and Pashto), and knowledge of English language is desirable.
    • Communication Skills: Clear communication to explain survey purposes and ensure understanding.
    • Community Engagement: Ability to build trust and engage with community leaders, CDCs, and household heads.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Strong skills to encourage participation and cooperation.
    • Observation Skills: Keen observation to document conditions and behaviors accurately.
    • Attention to Detail: Precise documentation and verification of responses.
    • Confidentiality: Commitment to maintaining respondent privacy and data protection.
    • Reporting Skills: Daily updates on data collection progress and systematic data compilation.
    • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing fieldwork circumstances.
    • Problem-Solving: Ability to address field-level challenges promptly with the line supervisor.
    • Feedback Implementation: Providing constructive feedback to improve data collection processes.
    • Personal Attributes: Honesty, proactivity, good manners, and integrity.
    • Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel to diverse, including remote, areas for data collection.

Job Requirements:

Experience:

    • 1-2 years of relevant experience in data collection, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), or social and market research.
    • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills.
    • Proficiency in English, Pashto, and Dari, both written and spoken, is a plus.
    • Experience with digital data collection using smartphones or tablets.
    • Familiarity with data collection tools such as Kobo or ODK.

Travel and Work Environment Requirements:

    • Willingness to travel to rural and remote areas as required.
    • Female staff must be accompanied by a Mahram during field travels.
