About Union Aid:

Union Aid (UA) was established by a group of Afghan philanthropists and social activists in July 1979 in Peshawar, Pakistan. Union Aid was serving Afghan Refugees and host communities living in/around refugee camps through various projects in three main sectors; health, education and skill development. UA has been providing basic health services through hospitals, Basic Health Units (BHUs), labor rooms, provision of prosthetic limbs and first aid trainings. UA facilitated Afghan Refugees in education sector through providing formal basic and higher education, skill development programs for men and women, literacy centers and scholarships.

Union Aid is actively providing regular support in humanitarian & development sectors such as, Healthcare, Nutrition, Education, Scholarships, Technical Vocational Education Trainings, Family Support Programs, Emergency Response and Support, Livelihoods, Food Security, Shelter, Construction/Rehabilitation of community level infrastructures, Environmental Protection, and WASH.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Appropriate treatment and behavior with clinic staff and clients, respect for people’s culture and traditions, and adherence to them.
  • Implementation and implementation of new development programs
  • Being committed to duty and complying with established rules
  • Participating in trainings and transferring learned knowledge to other health center employees in accordance with the health center’s internal training plan.
  • Deputy General Manager of the Clinic
  • Responsible for administering and monitoring the implementation of infection prevention standards in the relevant departments of the clinic
  • Responsible for managing and supervising the provision of health education and advertising to clients.
  • Direct care of patients with accurate diagnosis and treatment
  • Treatment of mild preeclampsia, incomplete abortions, and referral of patients with severe preeclampsia and eclampsia to equipped centers
  • Emergency and basic obstetric care
  • Newborn care and treatment of neonatal infections
  • Examination and treatment of STIs
  • Use of national guidelines and new medical practices
  • Acting in accordance with diagnostic and treatment protocols and standards
  • Responsible for accurate registration and follow-up treatment in the clinic
  • Responsible for collecting information and monthly reporting for the health center
  • Participate in the design and implementation of in-service training for clinic personnel.
  • Health promotion on common mental illnesses in Afghanistan according to BPHS
  • Health promotion, case finding, counseling, treatment, registration, regular reporting, follow-up and referral of mentally ill and disabled people to higher health centers in accordance with BPHS guidelines.
  • Responsible for implementing the quality improvement program and following it up in coordination with the community.
  • Case finding, collection of sputum samples from suspected patients, registration, follow-up and treatment of tuberculosis patients according to the DOTs regimen if this program exists.
  • Educate and inform CHWs about TB cases on treatment who do not have access to the clinic and follow up regularly by CHWs
  • Treat malaria patients according to national malaria control standards.
  • Diagnose and treat patients with severe anemia due to PPH, if possible.
  • Providing quality ophthalmology services to relevant patients
  • Improving public awareness about HIV/AIDS
  • Recommendation to perform HIV testing in TB patients if diagnosed
  • Participation in the Women’s Health Council at the clinic level
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring the rational use of drugs (RUD) in the health center
  • Actively participate in the implementation of new quality improvement standards
  • Case finding, treatment and rehabilitation of mentally ill and disabled people
  • Case finding, treatment and referral of patients with eye diseases

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated in Medicine (MD) from a reputable university.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in women’s health (obstetrics and gynecology)
  • Experience in BPHS at least one year.
  • Experience in outpatient examination department.
  • Skill in using medical equipment and devices related to obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Good communication skills with patients and the healthcare team.
