Responsibilities & Context

Implementation & Management of Hygiene Promotion & Behaviour change Activities- 30 %

  • Plan and conduct regular hygiene awareness sessions in households, communities, institutions, and public spaces.
  • Supervise Community Mobilizers and hygiene volunteers in daily outreach activities and ensure quality facilitation.
  • Lead the contextual design and distribution of BCC/IEC materials (posters, leaflets, banners).
  • Facilitate the formation and capacity-building of WASH committees, user groups, and other committees.
  • Organize and facilitate community-wide campaigns for camp cleaning and observed days like handwashing days, menstrual hygiene, Toilet Day, water day etc.
  • Ensure sensitive messaging that integrates gender, protection, and inclusiveness across all sessions.
  • Assist the team in planning and logistics for hygiene distributions or campaigns.
  • Promote correct use and maintenance of distributed hygiene kits.

Project intervention monitoring, Monitoring & Capacity Building – 25%

  • Develop individual and group work plans for field hygiene teams and volunteers.
  • Conduct routine monitoring of hygiene behaviours and sanitary conditions in households and communal spaces.
  • Monitor safe water use, latrine cleanliness, handwashing station functionality, and menstrual hygiene management practices.
  • Lead hygiene-related assessments (KAP, PDM, JART) and surveys in collaboration with MEAL teams.
  • Organize orientation sessions and refresher trainings for hygiene mobilizers, teachers, caregivers, and group members.
  • Analyse trends and recommend necessary changes or intensification in messaging.

Mobilize the FDMN community & maintain coordination – 20%

  • Build relationships and coordinate hygiene promotion activities with Majhis, block leaders, CiCs, SMS, CMOs, DPHE, and NGOs.
  • Mobilize communities for active participation in hygiene campaigns and WASH behaviour change initiatives.
  • Support field engineers and construction teams in community engagement for hardware activities.
  • Identify community leaders and influencers to promote hygiene through peer-to-peer learning.
  • Support in getting NOC or approvals from local authorities for hygiene-related interventions

Reporting & Documentation – 15%

  • Maintain accurate records of hygiene activities, training, attendance, and kit distribution.
  • Document progress, challenges, good practices, and success stories from the field.
  • Staff Requisition Form (JS & JD)

  • Contribute to project reports, monthly summaries, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Submit weekly plans and field reports to the APO/Project Manager

Safeguarding, Accountability and others – 10%

  • Participate in seasonal and emergency programs (e.g., Ramadan, Qurbani, Winterization)
  • Ensure the security of staff, volunteers, and community members during implementation.
  • Be willing to travel frequently to remote areas and stay in field locations.
  • Uphold safeguarding, child protection, and PSEA policies in all activities.
  • Support the creation of a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Compensation & Other Benefits

  • Festival Bonus: 1

Benefits & Allowances for this position will be -. 10% hardship allowance upon on monthly salary, Mobile bill, Tour allowance/Per-diem, Weekly 2 holidays, Provident fund, Insurance coverage (IPD, OPD, Life, DB, CIB), Festival Bonus, Long Service Awards, Leave (Annual, Casual, Sick, TOIL/CTO, Maternity, Paternity and R&R) and Gratuity, etc. Accommodation will be provided by Islamic Relief Bangladesh (only applicable for Bhashanchar). Other benefits will be provided as per the organizational HR policy.
