The Forest Landscape Restoration and Food Security (FLR) project aims at restoring forests and vegetative land coverage, and at increasing resilience in communities in different provinces of Afghanistan. Landscape management plans are developed in a participatory manner at village level. By establishing and working with local, regional and national NRM structures for participatory and conflict-resolving land use planning, implementing food security measures, managing of water resources and the restoration of forest landscapes, conflicts at the local level are reduced and a multi-stakeholder dialogue is initiated. Participation of women as beneficiaries and service providers is a core value of implementation. Sector-specific training products are developed to enable various actors in the forest sector and in the management of natural resources to implement forest-related landscape as well as food security systems independently and sustainably in the future.
