Overview of the Role

Create and oversee the execution of nutrition and health initiatives, making sure that all project activities adhere to the budget, schedule, and goals. Lead and provide technical assistance to the nutrition and health professionals. Create fresh budgets and ideas to address the needs of Khartoum State’s most vulnerable citizens. Oversee project monitoring and assessment, and use lessons learned to enhance project implementation quality.

Overview of the Project

Because of political and conflict-related instability, Medair Sudan is a dynamic and complex national program. In 2020, Medair returned to Sudan and is now working on projects in the nutrition and health sectors, including WASH and MPHSS components, in communities that are at risk. In addition to increasing and fortifying local collaborations, there are ambitions to extend the current program into additional locations.

Conditions at Work
Located in Khartoum, this position may alternatively operate from Port Sudan based on security and access requirements.

Responsibilities

Health & Nutrition Project Management: Manag H&N projects to meet the project objectives within budget and time frame and report promptly any operational concerns to line manager and in-country H&N advisor.

Staff Management: Line-manage the H&N team members, including day-to-day management, development and training, appraisals, etc.  Organize and lead team meetings, and appraisals.

Financial Management: Manage the budget for the assigned project(s) and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet the Medair standards, including accountability and good governance.

Communication and Coordination: Participate in H&N coordination meetings, Medair internal trainings, and other working groups or meetings, representing Medair and feeding back to the H&N staff.

Logistics: Provide leadership with the nutrition, health, logistics and finance staff to ensure items are procured, transported, stored, managed and accounted for correctly.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies

University degree in a relevant subject, preferably nutrition or public health.

Higher level qualification, preferably in nutrition or relevant field such as nursing/midwifery/doctor/community-based training.

Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written), basic or intermediate Arabic is desirable.

At least 2 years of experience in the NGO sector, preferably in Sudan.

At least 2 years of supervisory management experience.

Behavioural Skills

Strong servant leadership skills.

Creative, open-minded, flexible, self-learner, with good understanding of cross-cultural issues.

Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels.

Able to oversee multiple tasks, prioritising and delegating as required.

Good communication skills.
