- Generic responsibilities:

- Assist a range of support with the implementation of the shelter portfolio according to plan of action.
- Implements independently procedures and activities within own shelter as delegated.
- Responsible for organising and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support is being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team.
- Use initiative in day-to-day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work.
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.

Specific responsibilities
- Identify Shelter needs of the IDPs, Returnees and Host’ families in communities.
- Conduct Shelter , shelter upgrade and cash for rent needs assessments, shelter technical assessments.
- Supervise the delivery, distributions, and implementation of (Shelter) interventions in field.
- Ensure all work is carried out as per the community needs and project standards.
- Monitor the Shelter upgrade, cash for rent and all shelter issues within target communities through the ‘Community Leaders’, as well as directly through spot checks and assessments.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to shelter officer/coordinator on project progress against work plan.
- Plan and distribute cash and shelter In-kind items to target beneficiaries.
- Quality check from shelter In-kid items in the field and prepare the QC report to shelter coordinator.
- Ensure the inclusion of cash-based interventions and marked based programmes in country and area-based strategies and their implementation across and within NRC’s core competencies
- Provide an enabling environment for the implementation of cash-based interventions, including multi-purpose cash assistance, emergency cash responsesAny others task given by the direct supervisor.
Generic professional competencies:
- Experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Some knowledge of English language
- Knowledge of cash-based interventions and market-based programs
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- University degree in civil/construction engineering and other relevant institution or diploma is required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with INGOs in a similar role as Shelter Technical Assistant preferably engaged with shelter activities
- Previous work experience with a satisfactory performance in the same or similar building construction functional area preferably with UN or INGOs.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good knowledge of computer applications uses ideally Microsoft Office package.
- Good in English language both written and spoken plus excellent understanding of the local languages Pashtu/Dari
