Functional Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the project management team and the software development team, in order to convey software requirements, objectives and general project progress
  • Perform testing and analysis of the VCEP custom software as it is developed, and provide recommendations for improvement and alignment with user needs
  • Determine the primary data and information elements required, internally and externally, to support the claims verification process
  • Analyse and classify this data based on its sensitivity and the subsequent implications for information security, and then follow up to ensure that all data has proper mitigations in place
  • Consolidate operational information using all available data sources on a regular schedule to provide reports to project management as required
  • Analyse data entered in the VCEP custom software and produce consolidated reports and presentations for internal and external use
  • Recommend processes and tools to assure ongoing quality and integrity of data
  • Compile technical data inputs and evidence to answer stakeholder enquiries as promptly as possible
  • Understand, document and ensure the quality of high-value data for accuracy, consistency and comparability
  • Produce quality data visualisations, infographics and maps from relevant data sources on a regular basis for analysis, communication, and accountability purposes
  • Provide training on data collection and input, information systems and standards to colleagues, which may include visit of field offices to provide training and technical support as well as online training
  • Supervise and mentor local personnel in operational tasks related to software, data and related ICT matters
  • Provide maintenance and end user technical support in issues relating to the use and administration of related tools, including troubleshooting for data entry and access to the existing data sources
  • Implement and monitor analytics to understand the usage of project software and data by UNOPS users and partners, and provide insights to project management on patterns and trends
  • Support knowledge management initiatives to ensure that project experiences and learning are documented and available to all UNOPS Projects and Programmes

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:
  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent) preferably in computer science, information systems or a related subject with 5 years of relevant experience is required, OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in computer science, information systems or a related subject with 7 years of relevant experience is required
Experience:
  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in software and/or database development, information management, information systems, data management, data visualisation, or other related areas
  • Within relevant experience, a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in software and/or database development, information management, information systems, data management, data visualisation, or other related areas is required.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are required
  • Hands-on experience in software development is an asset
  • Experience in remote data collection and/or GIS systems is an asset
  • Experience with advanced Google Sheets, BigQuery and/or Looker is an asset
Language Requirements:
  • Fluent in English (read, write and speak) is required
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset
