Implementation Lead

Founded in 1956, The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities – in more than 40 countries around the world.

The EAGL Regional Office covers the following country operations: Burundi, Djibouti, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

Overall purpose of the role:

The Implementation Lead (Output 3 Lead) position is crucial for effective implementation of the project’s objectives. The incumbent will lead the implementation and adaptation of the project’s Output 3 strategy, including identifying opportunities and designing initiatives that strengthen the capacity of government and partner institutions. He/She will play a central role in leading and oversees OP3 implementation from a technical perspective and contribute to overall project delivery

Responsibilities :

The Implementation Lead will

Lead project engagement at community level, encouraging broader societal participation in security engagement mechanisms, in particular women’s & vulnerable groups’ participation; dialogue between & within communities
Leads application of community engagement to the design and adaptation of grants interventions
Coordinates with Area Leads to assess grantee delivery progress, identify risks and challenges, identify areas to strengthen GESI and conflict sensitivity, and document lessons learnt
Provide direct technical capacity building support to grantees, based on agreed capacity building plans
Identification of opportunities for project grants, including design and co-creation
Working closely and collaboratively with the MREL Unit to ensure appropriate and timely data collection and material necessary for learning
Monitoring of contextual changes in delivery locations, to inform project quarterly reviews
Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders (grantees, in delivery locations, and updating project Stakeholder Matrix
Support to project team on deployment to delivery locations
Contributes to project quarterly reporting and learning products/events
Ensuring that Area Lead activities and grantee activities are on track and delivered within agreed timeframes
Ensuring that Area Leads submit reporting in line with agreed timelines and to appropriate quality

Experience and Technical comptencies (included year of experience)

Advanced degree in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years’ senior management experience working in international humanitarian and/or development aid, ideally with experience in a similar role.
Demonstrable technical expertise in conflict resolution, P/CVE
Demonstrable experience in GESI and conflict sensitivity
Demonstrable experience in successfully managing Outputs/workstreams, including compiling learning, adapting delivery approaches, monitoring and evaluation
Demonstrable experience in managing teams effectively, including quality assurance over reporting and submissions
What we offer

Contract: 1 Year Contract with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance.

Management Band/ F.

Availability: 1st December 2024.
