Within UNICEF, Programme Monitoring is a growing area, whose strategic importance has been widely recognized. Tools and platform to collect and manage programmatic data have evolved in recent years. Collecting, triangulating and analysing data from different sources and facilitating its use by programme teams and management are at the core of programme monitoring. The UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) is looking to recruit a Consultant to support the team on the increasing needs related to data analysis and visualisation. The deliverables will facilitate the use of monitoring data by programme teams and management.

How can you make a difference?
Scope of Work
Goal and objective: The Consultant will work on deliverables related to data analysis and visualization under the supervision of the monitoring manager.
Provide details/reference to AWP areas covered: The deliverables will facilitate the use of monitoring data by programme teams and management.
Activities and Tasks: The consultant will produce data analysis and visualization products (as described in the Deliverables) for RO and CO programme teams and management.
Work relationships: The consultant will primarily work with the PPM team in the Regional Office and liaise with other teams as needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Desired competencies, technical background, and experience
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in the social sciences, data science, management, development sciences, public health, education, economics, public policy, statistics, research methods, or similar is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of professional experience with data analysis and visualization is required.
Technical knowledge and skills in the development and use of PowerBI dashboards are required
Existing knowledge of UNICEF datasets is an advantage

Administrative issues
The consultant is expected to work remotely. No travel is expected.
Expected minimum overlap of working hours with Nairobi is 4 hours.
Conditions
As per UNICEF DFAM policy, payment is made against approved deliverables.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible for ensuring that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
