ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a development organization that, based on expert knowledge and effective practice, aims to generate solutions for countries seeking to achieve their own development goals and contribute to development objectives shared by the international community, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP is present in 170 countries and territories, ensuring that its initiatives have the necessary global perspective while offering action options effectively adapted to the priorities of each local context.
In Mexico, as in the rest of the territories, UNDP works with the three branches of government and all sectors of society to help overcome environmental, economic, and social crises and promote sustained development and a focus on leaving no one behind. UNDP has collaborated with Mexico for more than 50 years. The first agreement signed as a Special Fund was signed on February 23, 1961. In recognition of Mexico’s significant progress as a middle-income country, and therefore its dual role as both recipient and provider of international cooperation, UNDP reaffirms its interest in creating strategic partnerships with major emerging economies in search of synergies between its work and our mission and mandate.
UNDP addresses the challenges posed by asymmetries in national development and maximizes the country’s potential as an international development partner through synergies between globally executed programs and their implementation at the national level. In this regard, the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Unit supports the Country Office in generating evidence for decision-making and promoting learning derived from its interventions. Internally, the Unit contributes to ensuring UNDP’s planned impact in Mexico, guaranteeing the quality of its interventions, and strengthening their visibility at the global and regional corporate levels. Likewise, the Unit’s actions are geared toward contributing to transformational changes within policies and the public agenda, mobilizing resources to achieve the results of the Country Program, and ensuring accountability.
