How can you make a difference?

UNICEF is implementing its 2021-2025 Country Programme Document (CPD) that has a key result area and outputs on “Adolescents”, supporting their development, participation, and engagement. UNICEF ADAP Intern will work on participation and engagement for adolescents and young people to develop their creativity, and participation and help them design solutions addressing challenges that they and their communities face. Together with partners, the intern will support young people to develop ideas and solutions to respond to modern-day challenges in their communities and increase their awareness regarding climate change.

The position will support skill development programmes. ADAP Intern will assist in following up the processes of skills development activities and will also support the organization of activities in line with changing needs in the field. This will support the personal empowerment of adolescents and young people.

The ADAP Intern will join sector meetings and focus on Southeast Youth Task Team members to learn good practices and mapping of the youth programmes. The position will assist in the arrangements of the task team meetings.
UNICEF ADAP Intern will get to present ideas and outputs and receive mentoring and career advice from the ADAP unit and other programme team members. The position will work with and for adolescents and have the opportunity to involve different areas for the work.

Deliverables
Support the implementation of youth participation, engagement, skill development programs.
Support information management and reporting activities.
Contribute to the preparation of reports, program documents, and submissions by providing information, preparing tables, and other documents.
Undertake regular program field visits and exchange information with partners/stakeholders to gather the necessary information, report on bottleneck and challenges.
Contribute to meetings of the Southeast Youth Task Team Meetings under the Protection Sector and assist in mapping youth services in the Southeast region.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years – Applicants must be at least 18 years old. (psychology, social work, child development, sociology, education or another relevant technical field.)
To be fluent in English, with strong writing skills. Additionally, fluency in another official and working language of the UN would be an asset.
To have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
Additional consideration will be given for any past experience in related fields.
Duty Station: Gaziantep

Internship Modality: On-site and Full-time

Supervisor: ADAP Officer

Duration of the Internship: 26 weeks

 

STIPEND: In accordance with UNICEF’s guidelines, interns will be paid a nominal stipend per month. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

INSURANCE: UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern’s service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start his/her work. If accepted, the intern will be required to provide a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions regarding service as an intern.
