WHO WE ARE?
SOS Children’s Villages is the largest non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational charitable child welfare organization in the world. SOS-Kinderdorf International was founded by Hermann Gmeiner in 1949 in Imst, Austria to help children in need; children who have lost their homes, their security, and their families because of the Second World War. SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia (SOSCVE) is a member of SOS-Kinderdorf International, the largest child welfare organization the first SOS Children’s Village in Ethiopia was opened in Mekelle in 1974. Currently, SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is running SOS Children’s Villages Programme in Addis Ababa, Harar, Mekelle, Hawassa, Bahir Dar, Gode and Jimma.
SOS Children’s Village Addis Ababa is the third Village in Ethiopia next to Mekelle and Harar. It was opened in 1981 in a residential district of the Southwest of Addis, in Lideta Sub city. Currently, SOS Children’s Village Addis Ababa has grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront children who have lost parental care and who are at the risk of losing, the love, care, and protection of their families, and or caregivers. Working in close cooperation with donors, the government and community-based organizations, SOS Children’s village Addis Ababa has continued supporting thousands of children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing it.
WHY WE NEED YOU?
SOS Children’s Villages in Addis Ababa program location is looking for a competent contractor for family house renovation work only expert labor works, in Addis Ababa.
1. Objectives.
The renovation works of family house serves the following objectives:
To protect the family houses from decaying.
To provide cover for damage and stains for family houses and office spaces.
To repair dents, dings, chips, cracks, and holes on the family houses.
To create sustainable and clean environment for the families.
2. Scope of Work.
Conduct the renovation work as per the given specification.
Regularly communicate with the client regarding progress and any other issues.
3. Duration/Timeline
SOS Children’s villages Ethiopia needs the contracting firm to be carried out the work within 60 Calendar days starting from the date of agreement signed including the provisional handover.
4. Responsibilities of the contractor.
Debrief/discuss with project team on the nature of the project.
Prepare a detailed plan of action/ work schedule for the project.
Carryout the project inconformity with the specification provided by SOSCVE within the agreed period.
Work on the renovation works according to the specification and design.
Work collaboratively with the concerned stack holders and report the progress to SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.
Submit reports and take off sheet upon requesting any payments.
5. Roles and responsblities of of SOS Children’s Villages in Ethiopia Addis Ababa Program
Provide relevant project documents and materials that will be necessary for executing the project.
Organize venue for debriefing session with project team on the nature of the project.
Assist the contracting firm in setting up appointments with concerned stakeholders.
Coordinate with the contracting firm to ensure the quality implementation of the project.
Supervise the contracting firm’s work in progress.
Effect payments according to the agreement.
6. Deliverables/Outputs.
Every construction work must be executed according to the given specification.
The construction work must be completed by the contract agreed date.
The rules and regulations on the agreed contract agreement must comply.
7. Job Requirements/ Qualification and Experience.
The applicant should be an entity incorporated under Ethiopian business law, duly registered. Other qualifications required include all legal qualifications which must contain:
Current valid commercial registration certificate.
Business license certificate.
Vat registration certificate.
Tin number certificate.
Construction certificate of competence. (Any legal document which is not renewed or false will lead to automatic rejection)
Provide experience, related to renovation/finishing works, at least three or above.
Understanding of context of the project aims and objects as well as emphasis placed on sustainability of the conducted modification.
8. Application Procedures.
The contractor is expected to submit technical and financial proposals, separately comprising the following components through SOS CVE recruitment.
A cover letter outlining the suitability of contractor firm for the assignment, motivation and summarizing relevant experience.
Technical proposal with detailed response to the TOR (job requirements/ qualification and experience), with specific focus on the scope of work, methodology to be used and key selection criteria for respondents.
A financial proposal detailing the given Bill of Quantity with a handwriting.
Relevant work undertaken in the last 3 years (construction works).
Full names, post office box, telephone numbers, e-mail address, physical address and contact person of the company.
Technical and financial proposals must be separately sealed. And then together with envelope.
No copy document is required.
9. Payment procedure.
Applicant contracting firms are expected to submit their financial proposal (inclusive VAT and any other applicable Tax) for the entire project. All VAT and TAX amounts will be deducted from the total amount as per Government Regulations. The payment schedule will be as follows:
20% of the contract will be paid to the contracting firm up on signing of the agreement.
75 % of the contract will be paid upon completion of the project at the provisional acceptance.
5% of the payment will be retained and will be paid immediately after the final acceptance.
10. Ethical standards.
SOS CVE is a child focused Organization and will always uphold the safety and wellbeing of children as it strives towards creating a better environment for children and their surrounding community. In ensuring this, SOS CVE will only consider those who are suitable to work with children. The selected contracting firm will sign the code of conduct or child protection policy of SOS CVs before the commencement of the work.
11. Evaluation and Selection Process.
The selection process of the Contractor or Firm will be based on the set of criteria described below. The proposal with no legal registered firm and renewed license will be automatically rejected and not evaluated by the selection criteria.

Potential contractors are requested to submit technical and financial proposals with all the necessary documents with sealed envelope as expressed above before June 07, 2024 G.C on working hours(8:00 AM-5:00 PM)
