Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.
The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.
Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.
AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.
Job Description:
Major responsibilities:
Performing examinations of children and male patients.
Improving health services for all clients.
Ensure follow-up of children’s symptoms at the health center.
]House of full register books and tally sheets according to standard samples.
Pharmacy office
Data collection, control, setup and system administration
Providing health education to clients.
It has personnel attendance control.
Control and track sick or necessary leave of personnel.
Raising your level of health knowledge and competence.
Active participation in various trainings organized by the Aga Khan Office, the Ministry of Public Health or other institutions (in agreement with the Aga Khan Office)
Implementing the contents of the protocols and training received
Active participation in local health councils or meetings held at the clinic level.
Description of activities:
1. Before the examination:
Managing patients, giving priority to critically ill children, patients referred by health volunteers, and other deserving patients.
Supervising the cleanliness and tidiness of equipment and supplies, and the entire clinic in general.
Acceptance of patients (good outcome with patients).
Providing health education to clients before their examination according to the relevant time allocation.
Checking the cleanliness of the rooms.
2. During the examination:
Obtaining a complete medical history from patients.
Conducting complete physical examinations.
Diagnosing and treating patients according to standard protocols.
Diagnosing and referring cases that cannot be treated in the clinic to other referrals or centers.
Observing cleanliness and hygiene rules during work.

Improving health services for patients, especially children.
Providing complete information to the patient or their parents about the problem and recommended treatment.
Accurate and correct dressing, taking into account aseptic and antiseptic conditions.
Timely monitoring of the work of officials in various departments.
Providing some suggestions (to the relevant departments) to improve the level of health services.
Regularly measure the height and weight of children under 5 years of age to detect cases of malnutrition.
3. After the examination:
Checking the cleanliness of materials and equipment after each use.
Administering medication according to prescription without changes
Explaining the method of storing or preserving the medicine and advising the patient to use the medicine according to the prescription.
Being responsible for the quantity and quality of medicine (storage, daily registration, maintenance, expiration dates)
Organizing and arranging medicines alphabetically and maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the pharmacy and medicinal products.
(Injections, oral syrups and medical supplies).
Using medicine that is close to expiration. The first step is to check the date of the medicine you have.
Inform the office pharmacy manager about the medication date at least one month before its expiration.
Delivering expired medicine to the relevant department.
Maintaining daily prescriptions as a supplement.
Registering stock cards in full (material name, date, quantity, description, daily stock progress)
Closing the pharmacy after work.
Preparing monthly reports and orders for the next month for the clinic’s pharmacy department.
If there is a cash recovery cassette, control and adjust cash.
Dispose of waste dressings and other medical products safely.

Working hours:
Six days a week, excluding national holidays (according to official timetable).
Daily working hours are divided according to the seasons of the year, guidelines and policies of the Aga Khan Office.
5. Prohibitions:
Expressing opinions or representing the Aga Khan Health Services Office without the consent of the responsible person.
Use of Aga Khan Health Services property or assets for personal purposes.
Use of drugs or alcohol inside the health center.
Other prohibitions are fully stipulated in the Disciplinary Punishment Law.
