About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political and non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 2014 register with the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scars resources in a well, efficient, transparent and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has active presence at least in nine provinces in five regions of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces as well with the aim to transform itself into a leading and developed organization which will deliver to and support significant number of people who had been affected by the long protracted and sudden on-set emergencies in Afghanistan. Regardless of the hardest circumstances that existed in Afghanistan in 2022 and 2021, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in Nangrahar, Herat, Balkh, Kabul, Kandahar, Bamyan, Wardak, Jawzjan, Paktia, Kunduz, Takhar, Laghman, Daykundi and Farah provinces.

Job Overview:

Through a comprehensive community-based approach and the provision of basic general literacy and pre-vocational skills, youth and adults, especially women and adolescent girls who were previously excluded from education and training, will be provided with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values they need to be productive, healthy, and responsible citizens prepared to contribute to the welfare of society and equipped for viable employment in the national Labour market. The Master Trainers will be responsible for the capacity building of BGL teachers, education personnel, community member and field level staff. The role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Job Description:

  • Using the project teacher training package and approaches, build the professional skills of community teachers in subject knowledge, teaching methods and techniques for successful delivery of community-based education.
  • Conduct training need assessment, design, conduct training and post training follow-up.
  • Develop training work plans, training materials (training manuals & handouts).
  • Deliver high quality training, workshops to BGL teachers, Provincial Community mobilizer (PCM) District Community mobilizers (DCM), education personnel and community members.
  • Deliver high quality pre service and in service training for facilitators (teachers)
  • Undertake regular supervision visits and assess the impact of trainings on the learning and development of project beneficiaries.
  • Identify training gaps/needs, and or areas of improvements – document best practices and lessons learnt.
  • Generate comprehensive training report and update the training database.
  • Monitor and evaluate students’ learning achievements; assist in the administration of the student learning achievement tests.
  • Provide regular in-classroom support to teachers to support them in practicing the learning gained from the trainings, create a friendly learning environment for students and overall teaching quality improvement.
  • Work with community members in identifying non-formal education needs, assuring the community cooperation with the program and their participation in the School Management Shura’s.
  • Conduct awareness raising meetings at DLM offices, Mosques and other community centers and inform them on project implementation.
  • Prepare and maintain the teacher supervision, class monitoring and teacher in-classroom support files; prepare the work plan in consultation with the team.
  • Distribute textbooks and other learning and classroom documentation materials in coordination with Facilitator and Community Mobilizer to the classes.
  • Establish and maintain productive work relationship and coordinate activities with the MoE provincial/district/hub school officials and staff of other education sector organizations.
  • Any other related task as assigned by Project Officer and/or Senior Management Team (SMT).

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Social Science.
  • Master degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or bachelor degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the relevant or similar position in humanitarian projects is required.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skill in Pashto & Dari, English will also be an asset.
  • Able to travel project site and outside of the duty station as and when required.
  • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, the General Literacy and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
  • Sound training skills, including for illiterate people.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring and evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in Afghanistan education system/context, education in emergencies (EiE), and child protection (CP)

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills Pashto, Dari and English
