Setting in an Organization
Through the FAO Strategic Framework, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) supports the transition to agrifood systems that are MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable in order to improve production, nutrition, the environment, and everyone’s quality of life. This helps the FAO achieve the 2030 Agenda.
Developing, promoting, supervising, and carrying out agreed-upon strategies to meet subregional food, agricultural, and rural development goals falls within the purview of FAO’s Subregional Office for Eastern Africa (SFE). It establishes and preserves connections with organizations at the subregional level, such as Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs). FAO’s Regional Office for Africa (RAF) is the parent organization of the Subregional Office. Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Eritrea are among the eight nations under its control. It enables the formation of subregional partnerships, supports capacity building and resource mobilization for food security, agriculture, and rural development in the subregion, and encourages subregional policy discourse on these topics.
