Job Summary
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Design and Estimation Engineer will support the Senior Design and Estimation Engineer on reviewing engineering survey, and design of the projects received from regional engineering teams and finalizing the final design and documents for the approval, and implementation. He/she will make sure that the required water and sanitation survey, design and engineering tools, software’s, methods, procedures, and manuals are as per the approved standard and followed scrupulously. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Design and Estimation Engineer he/she will have the following responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Assist the activities, such as survey, design review, estimate and specification of the projects.
– Review of the survey and Design and confirming that the regional engineers have followed the standard procedure while carrying out the survey, design and estimation for the water and sanitation projects.
– Assist Senior Design and Estimation Engineer in preparation of design package of survey and design documents for final approval and implementation.
– Assist in reviewing that regional engineering teams have followed approved format of estimation and BOQs’ for the projects.
– Assist in Preparing the work plan for the overall implementation of the projects’ scope of the works in.
– To carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects AKF (Afg)’s commitment to safeguarding staff, beneficiaries and protecting children from harm and abuse in accordance with AKF (Afg)s Safeguarding policy.
– To report any suspicions or actual violations of the Safeguarding Policy and/or Child Safeguarding Policy as per the given training.
OCCASIONAL SIGNIFICANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Upon recommendation of Senior Design and Estimation Engineer and authorization of National Engineering Manager, may require visiting the regions and attending the meeting.
– May require attending the meeting held by PIU on various occasions.

Job Requirements
JOB SPECIFICATION
– University degree in civil engineering or a related field.
– Proven experience of at least 03 years in rural infrastructure projects, including survey, design, construction, and supervision. Experience in rural water and sanitation, specifically solar powered water projects development, and community driven projects implementation will be preferred.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and team members.
– Familiarity with rural development standards, procedures, and regulations.
– Good in English, and fluent in local languages.
– Excellent technical survey and engineering design review, analyses, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. And knowledge of water supply design software.
REQUIRED CORE COMPETENCIES
– Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
– Very good knowledge and experience in conflict resolution and problem solving in community driven development contexts.
– Excellent stakeholder management skills and profession.
– Familiarity with communities, CDCs, DDAs and CSO will be preferred.
