About NGO Jobs in India – Master Trainers:

IREX is looking for trainers that have a basic understanding of media literacy or similar disciplines, such as journalism, fact-checking, education, and experience dealing with youngsters. Selected individuals will attend a three-day training of trainers event in New Delhi, India (tentatively scheduled for early May 2023) to prepare them to facilitate four L2D India Academy courses for Indian youth ages 18-25 from five Indian districts: New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

IREX expects to launch the online L2D-IA course platform in late May/early June, with activities continuing through the end of summer 2023 (with a possibility of extension, pending program funds, and scheduling needs).

The majority of learning sessions will be delivered online via the L2D-IA learning management system (LMS). Selected candidates will work in pairs (one pair per target district) to support the implementation of the L2D-IA program.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or similar experience in a relevant field (journalism, communications, education, political science, sociology, psychology, or related disciplines).
  •  Demonstrated training or teaching experience (preference will be given to candidates with 3 or more years of experience;
  • Anyone having expertise training/teaching in the fields of media/news, journalism, communications, fact-checking, media literacy, or related disciplines will be given precedence.
  •  Basic understanding of media and information literacy, news literacy, and digital literacy.
  • University degree in a relevant field (journalism, communications, education, political science, sociology, psychology, or related disciplines), or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience working with teenagers (ages 18-25) is preferred (experience dealing with vulnerable and/or marginalized kids who may be at risk of exclusion is also advantageous).
  •  Ability to facilitate interactive, engaging, learner-centered sessions.
  • It is preferable to have knowledge of/experience with interactive training methods (e.g., small group discussions, role-playing, quizzes, demonstrations, etc.) and digital tools (e.g., social media accounts and messaging apps, web search, reverse image search techniques, geolocation, etc.).
  • Knowledge of/experience using online tools, courses, and/or learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Moodle, etc.) is preferred.
  •  Experience moderating dialogues, public discussions, focus groups, or similar activities (especially for youth) is preferred.
  • It is preferable to have prior experience with English-language instructional programs and/or materials.
  • It is preferable to have demonstrated expertise in leading/co-leading activities, events, and/or initiatives (e.g., training workshops, camps, contests, tournaments, etc.), with responsibility for participant coordination, materials, logistics, and reporting.
  • Languages: professional fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English and Hindi is required; similar fluency with other languages spoken in India, such as Bengali, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of pedagogy is preferred.
  • It is preferable to have a demonstrated awareness of the Indian media landscape and media climate.
  • Curiosity, open-mindedness, and desire to contribute to the L2D-IA community.
  • Candidates with networks to recruit potential participants, such as students and youngsters, may be advantageous.
