The STA for Education in Emergencies will support the IRC’s emergency education programming by providing strategic resource creation and thought leadership support. He or she will oversee initiatives that advance education’s strategic priorities, such as raising awareness of and interest in education in emergencies and promoting the IRC’s work in this area. In order to guarantee the delivery of quick, scaled-back, and high-quality education programs, s/he will also be required to manage emergency education specialists in major acute emergencies. Working closely with senior technical advisors in education, technical advisors, and other IRC sector focal points involved in emergency response, this role reports to the IRC’s Senior Director for Quality in Emergencies.
The position directly supervises ERT and EER Education Coordinators, as well as any consultants hired for education in emergency, work.
closely collaborates with: Internal departments responsible for country programs, the EHAU, technical advisors in education, business development, and external relations; External: Promote the IRC’s programs for education in times of emergency at important external gatherings with donors, other non-governmental organizations, interagency working groups, foundations, and other industry professionals.

Education:
- It is preferable to have a master’s degree or similar experience in a related subject, such as international/humanitarian programming/public health/social work. Education may be replaced in some cases with further experience.
Experience:
- 8–10 years of experience implementing educational programs in low-resource contexts, and at least 5 years of experience doing so in crisis situations (such as conflicts, disasters, and outbreaks).
Languages:
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in French, Arabic, and/or Spanish is desirable
