About NGO-Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL) Manager

The Head of Programmes (HoP), Area Managers, and technical units will collaborate closely with the MEAL Manager to improve DRC Afghanistan’s processes for monitoring, evaluating, learning, and accountability. Achieving compliance with Core Humanitarian Standards 4 (Humanitarian response is focused on communication, involvement, and feedback), 5 (Complaints are accepted and addressed), and 7 the country office (Humanitarian actors continuously learn and improve). On the basis of the data and findings from continuous monitoring and evaluation activities, the job is responsible for contributing to strategic decisions and program design. Additionally, the MEAL Manager will aid implementing partners in increasing their technical capability.

NGO-Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL) Manager Responsibilities

  • Develop and bolster DRC’s MEAL team or department, coordinating hiring, increasing capacity, and performance management.
  • making sure areas of vulnerability are addressed, performing the annual compliance assessment, and ensuring that DRC MEAL guidance is understood and followed.
  • To guarantee adherence to and comprehension of all international standards, communicate with the HQ and regional MEAL focal points.
  • Apply DRC recommendations for MEAL and labor division, especially with regard to program personnel, and cultivate cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders within the scope of duty.
  • Create a MEAL strategy that takes into account the needs of the country and best MEAL practices, with useful guidelines that the team and non-MEAL specialists may use and implement.
  • By giving the area office team advice on the minimal staffing and resources necessary for the implementation of high-quality MEAL activities, you can ensure that resources for MEAL are allocated adequately in proposals, including for both national offices and area offices.
  • Make that all projects have sufficient MEAL budgets for efficient MEAL work, and prioritize spending based on essential requirements.
  • Establish and uphold procedures and policies for the area of responsibility’s data protection, storage, sharing, and security, and collaborate with the necessary personnel to make sure these are included in all operations throughout the nation.

NGO-Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL) Manager Requirments

Education:

  • a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (such as public health, statistics, social sciences, or international development) and at least seven years of relevant experience
  • at least 5 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline

Experience:

a minimum of four years’ worth of experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation, four of which were spent in a managerial position of a comparable nature;

Languages:

  • English (fluent)
  • Local language (desirable)
