About NGO-Virtual Navigator, Virtual Resettlement Line

In order to assist Afghan humanitarian parolees who arrived under Operation Allies Welcome, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) created a virtual resettlement and referral program through the Virtual Afghan Placement and Assistance program (VAPA) in March 2022. (OAW). The Uniting for Ukraine Support Line (U4USL), which assists Ukrainian humanitarian parolees in navigating resettlement in the United States, was launched immediately after VAPA in June 2022. The International Rescue Committee will combine the two programs and services under the new Virtual Resettlement Line in an effort to maintain and expedite support for recently arriving humanitarian parolees from Ukraine and Afghanistan (VRL).

Clients who contact the Virtual Resettlement Line by phone or email have their needs, inquiries, and requests addressed by the Virtual Navigator. The Virtual Navigator answers calls and emails from prospective clients promptly, effectively, and responsively to determine if they could be eligible for additional services through initiatives supported by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. They provide trauma-informed services to refugees and other qualified immigrants to support a positive resettlement experience and the achievement of client self-sufficiency. The Virtual Navigator works closely with clients, colleagues, and external parties to refer callers to the appropriate programs when eligible, and provides light-touch, virtual navigation of resources and support within the caller’s community.
