About NGO-WASH Coordinator/Afghanistan/2023

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL has been assisting the Afghan people for 38 years. It was founded in Afghanistan in 1980 under Soviet occupation. From emergency response to development-oriented programs, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL has continuously maintained its presence in the nation up until 2018, providing a wide range of services (water, hygiene and sanitation, food security and livelihoods, and shelter) for people affected by conflicts or natural disasters.
In December 2021, the organization resumed its program in Afghanistan and established a presence in the provinces of Bamiyan, Kapisa, Wardak, and Kabul. It has also started exploratory missions in the regions of Nimroz and Farah. In 2022, SI began operating in the provinces of Nimroz and Farah. In 2023, SI plans to expand its WASH and food security initiatives. SI now employs 70 workers (including 4 from abroad) and has a 2 million euro annual budget. This budget should be around $6 million in 2023, and the team should expand to 150 people.

SI will intensify its WASH and food security activities in Afghanistan in 2023, concentrating particularly on the South-West. This program will focus on responding to emergencies, including upcoming natural disasters and epidemic outbreaks (Cholera). Along with improving access to WASH services and infrastructure, SI will work to strengthen community resilience and create sustainable livelihoods in rural regions.
Required Qualifications NGO-WASH Coordinator/Afghanistan/2023
Education:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree related to engineering and WASH.
Experience:
- At least one significant experience in a leadership position related to the coordination of WASH humanitarian program implementation.
- Experience with NGO.
- At least 2 years of experience in project management.
- Previous experience in implementing the emergency project.
- Previous experience in carrying out assessments.
- Experience in proposal development.
- Experience in humanitarian coordination mechanisms (clusters, etc.).
- Experience working in tense security, volatile, and emergency context.
- Experience in team management.
Languages:
Fluent in English, written and spoken. Dari or Pashto would be an asset.
