Qualifications:

Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

AKHS, A is currently implementing healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kabul and Takhar provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary healthcare, preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. As BPHS and EPHS implementer, AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwives.

AKHS, A draws on internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary support to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A has introduced innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is also implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission initiatives.

Job Description:

  • Being committed to duty and complying with the medical rules established at the sub-health center
  • Compliance with Islamic, moral and social laws.
  • Identifying children with malnutrition and providing necessary care.
  • Active participation in accordance with the time allocation arranged in different sections of the health center to provide health services, correct approach and provide
  • Health education for patients and clients (nutrition and supplements)
  • Proper and timely follow-up of malnourished children for continued treatment and evaluation.
  • Acquire sufficient functional knowledge to perform tasks in various departments of the health center.
  • Nutritional screening of children under 5 years of age
  • Collaborate with the nutrition consultant in preparing accurate reports and following up on those who were absent from growth assessments.
  • Awareness about nutrition/breastfeeding and the importance of breastfeeding during the first 6 months of life
  • Preparing a monthly nutrition report correctly and accurately.
  • Implement the principles and regulations of the applicable nursing standards (sepsis and antisepsis) in the daily affairs of the health center
  • Registering patients and reporting monthly activity, stock and expenses of the nutrition department,
    participating in health education for patients according to the assigned time schedule.
  • Efforts to improve the level of professional knowledge and acquire information in accordance with national guidelines
  • Setting up stock and stock cards for the health center
  • Ensuring that all pregnant and breastfeeding women receive their medications
  • Proper storage and care of food in the health center and prevention of food waste
  • Screening of pregnant and lactating women
  • Effective counseling on the rational use of nutrients
  • Recording project figures in the relevant application
  • Make sure that the figures are included in the application without any errors.
  • Accurate measurement of anthropometric indicators.
  • Preventing expiration dates on materials and informing the provincial office of excess materials.

Job Requirements:

  1. Have a diploma of graduation from the Institute of Health Sciences Nursing
  2. One year of work experience in the nutrition sector
  3. Having good relationships and social and interpersonal skills.
  4. Having good communication and understanding skills
  5. Having the skills to use Android tablets.
