About AKHS-A (Aga Khan Health Service-Afghanistan):

Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.

AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.

Job Description:

– Actively participate in sterilizing all medical equipment in the hospital.

– Actively participate in the management of mass and emergency cases, triage, performing dressings, matching injections, performing cardiac graphs, matching catheters to patients

– Working with doctors in serious cases such as participating in operations, cooperating with doctors in emergencies and other events that are necessary

– Complying with doctors’ orders, injecting medications according to standard protocols.

– Regularly measuring children over 5 years of age to detect malnutrition cases

– Responsible duty performance in OPD, IPD and NCO according to the duty schedule

– Providing health education to clients according to the monthly time allocation and health education curriculum.

– Regular and accurate care of patients’ treatment based on job responsibility

– Competent and active participation in nurse education and training

– Implement all BPHS/EPHS policies such as IPC, waste management, uniforms, rational use of medicines, patient referrals, staff and patient safety, GRM, PSEA, OHS

– Performing all other duties requested by the hospital’s senior officials.

Duties :

Before the examination :

1. Checking the cleanliness of the rooms.

2. Checking the purity of the necessary materials.

3. Preparing materials during work (gloves, disinfectants, etc.)

4. Organize patient admissions based on their priority.

5. Providing health education to clients according to specific time allocations.

During the examination :

1. Providing the patient with complete information about their problem.

2. Explaining the problem accurately to the patient and asking for help from the doctor if necessary.

3. Accurate and correct dressing, taking into account sterilization conditions.

4. Schedule a re-meeting if necessary.

After the examination :

1. Check the cleanliness of materials and equipment after each use.

2. Participating and participating in various trainings organized by the Ministry of Health, United Nations offices, and relevant institutions.

Sterilization :

1. Collect all contaminated hospital equipment.

2. Properly carrying out the sterilization process of medical devices.

3. Returning the materials to the hospital and ensuring that sterilized materials are used.

Job Requirements:

Abilities, characteristics and skills :

Graduated from the Medical Secondary Institute, Institute of Health Sciences, Nursing Department

At least one to two years of experience as a nurse in the BPHS/EPHS system or other public or private health sectors

Having a kind and friendly personality

Sufficient health and strength for work

Has played a worthy and active role in in-service training for community health workers

Required characteristics (sincerity, patience, diligence)

Maintaining order and discipline.
