Goals of the initiative
The GPSC’s primary goals are to secure and scale up global patient safety action and work closely with low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to enhance the safety of their national health care systems and lower the risk of preventable damage. Three technological areas serve as the foundation for the GPSC’s overall work:
• Leadership that puts patient safety first, encourages a culture of patient safety, and involves patients and their families.
• Research to improve research capacity and evidence-based policy processes in patient safety; • Education and Training to develop a competent, capable, and compassionate health workforce via interprofessional education and training in patient safety.
The position’s objective
In cooperation with important national stakeholders, such as hospitals, academic and research institutions, professional associations and councils, patient organizations, and patient representatives, this position aims to coordinate the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Collaborative (GPSC) activities at the national level in a few chosen hospitals and offer technical support to the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in enhancing patient safety systems and practices through the implementation of National Safe-Care align Project-Ethiopia (SCAPE).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential:
University degree in medicine, health sciences, public health, health policy, health management, policy analysis, public policy, or other relevant area of study.
Desirable:
Postgraduate degree in one of the above-mentioned areas of study.
Experience
Essential:
• At least 2 (two) years of combined national and/or international experience in patient safety, service delivery and health system strengthening;
• Demonstrated experience in supporting national agencies in national health policy planning in health system strengthening, implementation, and monitoring;
• Demonstrated experience in providing policy advice in the area of patient safety and quality of care;
• Experience in developing and/or managing collaborative programmes/projects with involvement of a wide range of stakeholders with a focus on patient safety;
• Experience in working at national and global levels
Desirable:
Knowledge of or experience in working with NGOs, academic institutions, and professional associations. Experience working with low- and middle-income countries

REMUNERATION
This is a Special Service Agreement (SSA) contract at NO-B, with a monthly remuneration of $3,270.08, paid in local currency equivalent.

6) Consultants shall perform the work as independent contractors in a personal capacity, and not as a representative of any entity or authority. The execution of the work under a consultant contract does not create an employer/employee relationship between WHO and the Consultant.
7) WHO shall have no responsibility whatsoever for any taxes, duties, social security contributions or other contributions payable by the Consultant. The Consultant shall be solely responsible for withholding and paying any taxes, duties, social security contributions and any other contributions which are applicable to the Consultant in in each location/jurisdiction in which the work hereunder is performed, and the Consultant shall not be entitled to any reimbursement thereof by WHO.
