We work with families, communities and health workers in homes, clinics and hospitals to promote basic health in order to save lives of children and mothers.

Job Description:

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The overall purpose of this position is to manage the implementation of TFU activities of the HF Integrated project in the selected district of Jawzjan Province.

Responsibilities and particular assignments:

Responsibilities

    • Making sure that nutrition services in TFU including IPD SAM and OPD SAM is well organized and delivered.
    • Respecting recommended MoPH and WHO guidelines in the treatment of patients.
    • Conduct regular examinations on complicated acutely malnourished children and record their health and normal physical development in TSS/ MSS and treatment cards
    • Recommend and manage treatment medication and additional specialized medical care to prevent or treat diseases and complications that are associated with malnutrition
    •  Monitor progress and conditions and revise treatments as needed
    • Examine sick children with malnutrition to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information about symptoms
    • Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history
    • Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration for each Complicated case to caregivers and nutrition nurse
    • Prescribe and interpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information for possible infections or abnormalities
    • To undertake emergency procedures as required (including resuscitation), taking the lead as necessary.
    • Mentor and provide on-the-job training on stabilization care and documentation to nurses and other health workers deployed to the TFU
    • Supervise the use of medicines, medical supplies, nutrition-related commodities and data tools in the TFU
    • Making sure that all the reports are well recorded and reported to the provincial office on monthly or weekly bases as required.
    • Making sure that nursing care of IPD children is well respected.
    • Clearly record all patient data including history exams performed past and current medications vaccination information diagnosis and treatment plans
    • Making sure that the nutrition supply is enough and sufficient and informing the provincial office in case of shortages to avoid stock out
    • Making sure that TFU assets use and maintenance are respected.
    • Provide night duty services if required as per HF schedule
    • He/She supervises the TFU staff (MD, Nurse, PSS Counselor, Cleaners, Cook) and shall directly provide ongoing leadership to the TFU team and oversee the implementation and coordination of activity plans to ensure targets are met.
  • Ensure that all TFU staff is fully complete and submit timesheets monthly for approval
  • Attending relevant meetings and training.
  • Follow up on feedback provide by the management team or external monitors and ensure its follow-up with the TFU team.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: The duties and responsibilities set out above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out additional duties from time to time that is reasonable in relation to their level of skills and experience.

In the event of a significant humanitarian emergency, the post-holder will be expected to work outside their normal job description; vary their working hours; and occasionally work from a different location should the need arise.

The post holder is required to carry out their duties in accordance with SCI Health and Safety policies and procedures and our Global Security policy and procedures.

    • Performs other official duties as assigned by the supervisor and by the senior managers of the organization in line with organizations policies, procedures, mandate and strategies.
    • Contributes to organizational learning and enhanced capacity in planned intervention and activities by providing feedback to the team on things and areas that are to be improved
  • Contributes to the running monitor of the prevailing security conditions by gathering security-related information.
  • Assists in ensuring that the necessary measures are in place to ensure security, safety, health, and of well-being Save the Children staff, and other visitors; and that security standards and procedures are strictly adhered to.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS 

Essential:

  • Graduated from recognized medical faculty and provide the MoPH-attested specialization document.

Desirable:

  • Strong interpersonal and team skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
    • Ability to work alongside others under stressful conditions in conflict-prone situations
  • Effective self-organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Good administrative abilities, Good communication and counseling skills, proven knowledge of national languages, honest and kind personality;

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Have 1 year of experience in Managing TFUs
  • Have 2 years’ experience in managing paediatric ward.
