Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.

We do this by working with local actors to develop safe and inclusive local programming that is evidence based, conflict sensitive, climate smart, and reaches those in need.

Job Description:

Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management

  • Oversee all procurement processes for drugs and medical supplies.
  • Define stock management, hygiene, and security protocols for all RI pharmacies.
  • Monitor stock levels and prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Ensure safe, temperature-controlled, and compliant storage conditions.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure all drugs meet MOPH and WHO quality and certification standards.
  • Lead the validation of deliveries from suppliers before distribution.
  • Conduct inventory audits and ensure traceability and documentation.

Capacity Building and Supervision

  • Supervise, coach, and train pharmacy staff.
  • Conduct regular technical support visits and refresher trainings on drug storage and equipment maintenance.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics for operational integration.

Reporting and Coordination

  • Prepare monthly reports on stock levels, usage, and distribution.
  • Liaise with provincial and national pharmaceutical coordination platforms.
  • Work closely with MEAL and finance teams for data and budget alignment.

Behavior and Conduct

  • Will ensure the highest standards of behavior inside and outside of work promotes the values in RI’s code of conduct and safeguarding policies
  • Will be a model for ethical conduct standards for other team members
  • Will ensure own actions and the actions of the teams members they manage do not impact the safety of the RI team and the vulnerable communities we serve
  • Will ensure external stakeholders are aware of RI conduct and reporting mechanisms
  • Report any concerns

 

Job Requirements:

Essential criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
  • At least 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical management.
  • Strong knowledge of Afghan pharmaceutical regulations and MoPH protocols.
  • Experience in health NGO sector and emergency supply chain.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of BPHS/EPHS standards.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English and Pashto and/or Dari.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in challenging environments.
  • Proven track record of upholding humanitarian principles and actively engaging vulnerable communities.

Desirable criteria

  • Training in quality assurance for medicines.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or stock management systems
