What you will do:
- Role and responsibilities
Key objectives for this role include:
- Support the implementation of NRC Sudan advocacy strategy, aligned to overall country strategy.
- Ensure advocacy coherence and reinforce effective synergies between programmes and advocacy.
- Ensure systematic training on advocacy and communication and build capacity of technical staff and partners.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead Programme-Based Advocacy. Ensure strong integration between program operations and advocacy efforts, providing guidance to operational teams on advocacy plans across key joint issues. This includes:
- Supporting local responders, improving overall responses in cash and market systems, urban displacement, and protection based on NRC programme’s evidence and recommendations.
- Joint Advocacy with Local Partners Collaborate with local partners to conduct joint advocacy and capacity-building initiatives.
- Facilitate joint learning opportunities between selected partners and NRC.
- Drive joint advocacy initiatives aligned with NRC’s strategy
- Internal Advocacy Capacity Building. Lead advocacy capacity-building efforts at the area level to ensure the integration of advocacy priorities into programming.
- Support and Deputization
- Deputize for the Advocacy Manager as required and undertake additional tasks as assigned and agreed with the supervisor.
What you will bring
Generic professional competencies:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a humanitarian context
• Strong grasp of humanitarian and protection principles
• Strong grasp of humanitarian programming
• Demonstrated command over research and policy work
• Experience working in complex and volatile contexts
• Demonstrated experience in coordination, creation of advocacy alliances across various stakeholders
• Excellent command of English, both written and verbal, Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.
Context/ specific skills, knowledge and experience:
• Masters in International Affairs, law, public policy or international relations
• Strong representation and communication skills
• Experience of completing programme-based research and advocacy is a plus
• Experience in localization, partnership with local actors, civil society is a plus

- Duty station: Port Sudan, Sudan
- Salary/benefits: grade 8 on NRC’s salary scale.
- Duration of Contract: 12 months
- Travel: 40%
