Position 4: Management (GIS)

The Nangarhar Valley Agricultural Emirate Company (Canal) is an agricultural project whose initial survey and design works began in 1984 and were completed in 1952. The canal has a capacity of 50 cubic meters of water per second. The canal has an irrigation capacity of 31,000 hectares of land in five districts of Nangarhar province (Sorkhrood, Behsud, Beti Kot, Ani Khel and Mohmand Darreh). be.

The GIS manager is responsible for managing the development and implementation of geographic information systems in the organization. He or she ensures that spatial or geographic information is accurately collected, analyzed, stored, and used for management decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leading and managing GES system-related activities in the office.
• Design, create maps and spatial databases.
• Analyzing geographic data to support planning and decision-making.
• Oversee the collection, organization, and archiving of spatial or regional information.
• Coordination with technical and management departments for effective use of the GIS system.
• Preparing reports, maps, and specialized analyses for department leadership.
• Training and capacity building of relevant employees in the GEIS department.
• Ensuring the use of standardized standards and software.

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, or a related field.
• At least three years of job-related work experience
• Proficiency in GIS and similar software.
• Familiarity with managing spatial, regional and geographic databases.
• Ability to analyze data and prepare technical maps and reports.
• Leadership skills, team management and coordination with the relevant department team.
• Familiarity with the mapping system is considered a plus.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Fluency in the country’s official languages ​​and the ability to write and speak English.
