Job Title: Programme Policy Officer (EPR) CST I, Dhaka, Bangladesh Grade: CST I Type of contract: International Consultancy Duration: 11 months Duty Station: Dhaka, Bangladesh Vacancy Number: 179041 Date of Publication: 20 December 2022 Deadline of Application: 10 January 2023 This vacancy announcement is for Internationals The World Food Programme (WFP) is committed to assisting the Government of Bangladesh and its emergency preparedness and response organizations, particularly the Ministry of Disaster Mitigation and Response (MoDMR). In light of this, the WFP Bangladesh Country Office established the EPR Officer position with two primary objectives: supplying the MoDMR with the necessary technical assistance will help with the national disaster management strategy’s execution, support its updating, and, in the end, boost national emergency preparedness and response capacities.- ensuring that EPR is coordinated and integrated across all WFP units and sectors, developing a shared vision, and gradually introducing an attitude of forethought.
Required Qualifications Program Policy Officer Job
EDUCATION: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or another field relevant to international development assistance. WORK EXPERIENCE: Overall Five (5) years of work experience in UN organizations, international and/or national NGOs, Government entities, or the private sector with a focus on humanitarian work or public policy LANGUAGE: Fluency (level C) in the English language.OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in organizing and facilitating emergency simulation exercises (TTX, SIMEX).
- Experience implementing projects at a field level involving national Cooperating Partners and/or Government counterparts.
- Knowledge and experience in inter-agency coordination at the field level.
- Ability to manage discussions with experts in WFP technical areas, especially VAM, CBT, GIS, Engineering, and Retail.
- Professional familiarity with the Cluster Approach and the international humanitarian response architecture, including coordination mechanisms, humanitarian reform, and funding mechanisms.
- Experience working in collaboration with a diverse array of humanitarian actors, including governments, NGOs, UN agencies, civil society, etc.
- Experience in country-level humanitarian operations in large-scale emergencies is an advantage.
- Experience supporting emergency food assistance (in-kind and/or CBT) programming and distribution is an advantage.
