Required Qualifications Program Policy Officer Job

EDUCATION: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or another field relevant to international development assistance.WORK EXPERIENCE: Overall Five (5) years of work experience in UN organizations, international and/or national NGOs, Government entities, or the private sector with a focus on humanitarian work or public policyLANGUAGE: Fluency (level C) in the English language.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in organizing and facilitating emergency simulation exercises (TTX, SIMEX).
  • Experience implementing projects at a field level involving national Cooperating Partners and/or Government counterparts.
  • Knowledge and experience in inter-agency coordination at the field level.
  • Ability to manage discussions with experts in WFP technical areas, especially VAM, CBT, GIS, Engineering, and Retail.
  • Professional familiarity with the Cluster Approach and the international humanitarian response architecture, including coordination mechanisms, humanitarian reform, and funding mechanisms.
  • Experience working in collaboration with a diverse array of humanitarian actors, including governments, NGOs, UN agencies, civil society, etc.
  • Experience in country-level humanitarian operations in large-scale emergencies is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting emergency food assistance (in-kind and/or CBT) programming and distribution is an advantage.
