The Position:
The Programme Analyst, Midwifery and Maternal Health analyses and assesses relevant political, social and economic trends, guiding and facilitating the delivery of UNFPA’s programmes relating to Sexual and Reproductive Health with a focus on Midwifery and Maternal Health in the Indonesia Country Office.
The Programme Analyst, Midwifery and Maternal Health, will report to the Programme Specialist for Reproductive Health.

Job Purpose:
Working within a large and complex country context, Programme Analyst will support the effective management of the UNFPA programme in maternal health and midwifery. Through substantive analysis and assessment of political and social trends the Programme Analyst will manage project formulation, implementation, evaluation, monitor results achieved during implementation, guiding appropriate application of UNFPA’s systems and procedures, and developing enhancements as required. The Programme Analyst will contribute to the joint programming initiatives, policy advocacy and development of frameworks/guidelines that improve the skilled midwifery workforce and quality of maternal health care to end preventable maternal deaths.
You would be responsible for:
- In collaboration with Government counterparts, NGOs and other partners, contributing to the design and implementation of programmes that strengthen the midwifery workforce and improve quality of maternal health care aligning with Government priorities and UNFPA programme policies and procedures.
- Managing work plan development, budget allocation, including monitoring of expenditures to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information and delivery of programme results.
- Assisting in implementing knowledge management strategies to capture lessons learned and best practices, sharing these with relevant partners and management for future planning in the midwifery and maternal health thematic area.
- Ensuring appropriate monitoring and oversight mechanisms, and systems are established and implemented for this purpose.
- Analyzing and interpreting the political, social and economic environment relevant to UNFPA activities, and identifying opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention in the field of sexual and reproductive health focusing on midwifery and maternal health.
- Analyzing policy papers, strategy documents and national development plans; preparing briefs and inputs for policy dialogue, technical assistance coordination, and development frameworks focusing on midwifery and maternal health within the country programme.
- Assessing implications of new policy developments and strategies on programme execution, and ensuring their integration in midwifery programmes to keep relevance of UNFPA’s interventions.
- Establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies to facilitate timely and efficient delivery of project inputs.
- Supporting the advocacy and resource mobilization strategy of the UNFPA County Office (CO), by ensuring preparation of relevant documentation, i.e. project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and participating in related meetings and public events.
- Participate and support coordination of relevant national and sub-national, such technical working groups, steering committees
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Advanced university degree in. public health, medicine, social science development and/or other related social science disciplines
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years professional experience in the field of public health, with experience in programme/ project management;
- Work experience in the field of sexual and reproductive health programme is desirable;
- Knowledge of the country’s context and a good understanding of the government systems, particularly in sexual and reproductive health areas;
- Practical experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects;
- Experience using office software packages and web-based management systems;
- Work experience in the UN system and development partners will be an added advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in verbal and written English and Indonesian language is required.
