JOB PURPOSE

To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1.  Contribute to reform the Mother and Child Benefit programme design, action plans, processes guidelines, SoP and other documentation needed to operationalize the MCBP, while ensuring alignment with appropriate government policies and strategies.
    2.    Provide project management support to review, and ensure  that the MCBP includes appropriate measures to integrate  nutrition and shock responsive elements.
    3.    Develop and coordinate with the relevant Government agencies on joint monitoring and reporting, including dissemination findings of the evidence generated under the MCBP  ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
    4.    Research and analyse a range of policy and operational including work closely with other research agencies such as the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in designing assessments and research required to support the development of the MCBP.
    5.    Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting, briefing papers on programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
    6.    Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including various Government agencies and development partners to ensure coordinated efforts to support the implementation and scaleup of MCBP as envisioned in NSSS 2nd phase action plan;
    7.    Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working leading to MCBP programme implementation and coordination at sub national level.
    8.    Support to identify gaps in capacity of relevant stakeholders for effective implementation of the programme and develop capacity of relevant stakeholders at national and sub national level.
    9.    Guide and supervise more junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.
    10.    Other as required.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear concept on the transformation of government policies and strategies into actions and operationalization.
  • Understanding on national targets in improving food security and nutrition for the poor and vulnerable, particularly for women and children;
  • Knowledge of Government strategies aiming at achieving food security and nutrition targets;
  • Possesses analytical skills, required to coordinate assessments/review and research; and
  • Ability work with partners, civil societies, and academia to advocate for change in programme design.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance.

WORK EXPERIENCEMinimum 7 years of experience with a minimum 4 years of professional experience in programme.

LANGUAGE: Fluency in spoken and written English and Bangla is required.
