The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and to promotes the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs some 20,000 people in 100 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments and from national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. We are looking for candidates suited to fill the below vacancy

Position : Protection of Family Links Field Officer

The Protection of Family Links Field Officer is responsible for providing support to the BDRCS in the conduct of Restoring Family Links (RFL) activities in her/his area of responsibility under the supervision of the RFL delegate.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implements RFL activities under the supervision of the line manager.
  • Collects, compiles, and translates RFL related information with the appropriate care, timing and sensitivity required.
  • Organizes and maintains the filing of her/his work according to institutional procedures.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with beneficiaries, BDRCS volunteers and humanitarian organisations and authorities on matters related to RFL.
  • Coaches and trains BDRCS volunteers, making presentations, acting as facilitator, preparing materials.
  • Supports and monitors the BDRCS RFL activities, including weekly visits, follow-up of cases, filing, reporting;Prepares and participates in all aspects of field trips including reporting.
  • Performs data analysis, according to working methodologies and procedures to ensure coherence and efficiency in addressing RFL issues.
  • Fosters a conducive environment with fellow team members.
  • Contributes to the design, review, and implementation of the RFL-related projects and activities.
  • Plans, develops and ensures implementation of RFL procedures and tools, in coordination with the RFL Delegate.
  • Contributes to meaningful internal and external meetings (preparation, participation, reporting and follow up).
  • Maintains a good knowledge of the area of responsibility and contributes to the analysis of the security, socio-economic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRCs work; shares relevant information with the Delegation management and other team members, reporting any change in the situation.
  • Disseminates on ICRC activities to a wide variety of interlocutors as humanitarian actors, both at Cox’s Bazar and at camps’ level; authorities; community leaders and other stakeholders.

Educational Requirements:

  • At least graduation from reputed university with good academic records.

Professional requirements:

  • University degree, preferably in Social Sciences
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated professional experience in the relevant field is required
  • At least 2 years of experience in protection work in international organizations or NGOs will be considered as strong asset
  • Previous experience in working with Rohingya Community in camps will be considered as an asset.
  • Experience in dealing with persons with disabilities is an asset.
  • Fluent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Fluent command of spoken Bangla and Chittagong
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required.

  • Flexibility to travel in the sub sites covered by the delegation
