Background
United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) strives to promote gender equality and women’s human rights, strengthen the implementation of gender-sensitive policy and legislation, and eliminate all forms of violence against women. UN Women is strategically positioned at both the national and provincial levels in moving towards the realization of gender equality and women’s empowerment. UN Women provides support to innovative initiatives that promote women’s human rights, with a special focus on their economic security, governance/ political participation, freedom from violence, as well as access to justice.

Effective women’s movements during the current war in Sudan require capacity-building for women’s organizations engaged actions geared towards peacebuilding and humanitarian responses. The literature informs us that, in various war contexts, women’s groups often engage in informal mediation and negotiation at the community level. UN Women is committed to capacity building for women’s organizations and initiatives using different platforms, such as meetings, conferences, and other relevant events, in addition to training and technical assistance. Since the war, and due to the complexity associated with the mobility of women from different regions to travel outside Sudan for training, UN Women have agreed to conduct capacity-building training in Port Sudan. Many women’s organizations have not received training on basic gender concepts and UNSCR 1325; the normative framework that addresses key issues during conflict. The training will link up gender, UNSCR 1325 on women, peace, and security with mediation skills. The mediation skills will establish the basic skills of conflict analysis and from a gender perspective.

Based on the above, UN Women will recruit a rapporteur to support the documentation of the workshop as per the below responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
Overall Objective

To accurately document and translate all workshop data, discussions, and key points into a detailed and comprehensive final report.

Specific Objectives:

Enter all of the data on flip charts that the participants and facilitator reported.
During the three days of the workshop, accurately document discussions, key points, decisions and action plans during the training.
Ensure all data is specific and detailed avoiding generalizations.
Following the sessions, the rapporteur is responsible for gathering all flip charts following each session.
The rapporteur assists with many duties, including gathering completed attendance/registration forms.
A participants’ profile sheet will be created by the rapporteur.
Organize and file all collected data daily into a dedicated folder in the computer.
Translate all reports and data from Arabic into English accurately.
Prepare the draft report of the three-day workshop report

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:

Computer skills and high-speed typing in Arabic and English.
Excellent communication and listening skills and ability to capture discussions.
Ability to rephrases sentences in a refined Arabic and English languages.

Required Skills and Experience
Education and Certification:

A bachelor’s degree on social science, management, or relevant fields.
Experience:

A Minimum of 4 years of experience in reporting in any professional capacity.
Sound knowledge of gender issues.
Language:

Fluent in English, and Arabic both written and spoken is mandatory.
