An overview
Based on the equality vision outlined in the UN Charter, UN Women strives to end discrimination against women and girls, empower women, and establish equality between men and women as co-recipients and partners in development, human rights, humanitarian efforts, and peace and security.
One of the biggest security concerns since World War II and the cause of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing refugee problem is the war against Ukraine. As more than seven million Ukrainians sought safety, protection, and aid outside of their nation, the ongoing violence and devastation not only affected civilians inside its borders but also caused widespread population movements that have spread into neighboring countries or even farther away.
