About ACAPS

Who we are

ACAPS is an independent analysis provider. We are an independent analytical voice helping humanitarian workers, influencers, fundraisers, and donors make better-informed decisions and respond more effectively to disasters.

What we do

We inform crisis response: We aim towards reshaping the humanitarian narrative by providing timely and independent needs analysis, data, training, and methodological tools while advocating for a more evidence-based response to crises.

We collaborate with honesty and Creativity: ACAPS maximises synergies with humanitarian responders, specialised analytical organisations, academic institutions, the private sector, and civil society and encourages them to implement a collaborative approach.

As humanitarian needs continue to rise steeply, there is an increasing parallel demand in the sector for high-quality, independent analysis to guide resource prioritisation and programmatic responses. ACAPS is uniquely positioned in the humanitarian architecture to respond to these challenges, operating as a global public good to the humanitarian sector by providing independent, multi-sectoral analysis to enable humanitarian stakeholders to better understand and address the needs of crisis affected populations across the globe.

ACAPS is currently at an exciting stage of its growth trajectory, with a fast-expanding decentralised global team. Due to an increased awareness of ACAPS value add to the humanitarian sector, ACAPS conducts analysis on crises in Afghanistan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Sudan, Ukraine, and Yemen with team members working within many of these countries. This is in addition to global teams providing analysis spanning over 150 countries and 100 active crises worldwide. ACAPS donor portfolio is also expanding, with current active funding from key institutional donors such as BHA, FCDO, SDC, GFFO, GAC, SDC, NMFA and others.

Sudan Analysis Hub

ACAPS established the Sudan Analysis Hub in August 2023, in the early days of the current war, to provide integrated independent analysis to support the humanitarian response. We have a dedicated team of analysts in the region supported by data analytics experts, researching and preparing analytical reports covering thematic areas on the protection of civilians, displacement, rights of minorities including women, girls, and children, anticipatory analysis including scenarios, and identification and analysis of worsening sectoral humanitarian needs – including at sub-national level.

Responsibilities

Protection Monitoring and Implementation:

Lead the development and implementation of protection monitoring frameworks and information processes tailored to both analysis production and technical assistance.
Design and refine protection monitoring methodologies, ensuring alignment with Global Protection Cluster datasets standards.
Research and Analysis:

Jointly with the other Senior Analysts on the team, ensure high methodological standards and high quality of analysis.
Continually review and integrate all assessments, reports, and information products on Sudan’s humanitarian scenario to discern the prevailing information landscape and detect existing informational voids.
Spearhead the conceptualization and execution of multi-sector and thematic analytical outputs, overseeing all analytical phases, from ideation and research to drafting and collaboration with ACAPS’ technical departments.
Facilitate and mentor other team members in the evolution of their analytical products.
In collaboration with other Senior Analysts on the team, guarantee the successful planning, execution, and timely release of analytical outputs.
Oversee and facilitate capacity-building initiatives for staff and partners, ensuring proficiency in protection research methodologies and practices.
Methodology and Quality Assurance:

In collaboration with other Senior Analysts on the team, lead the development and maintenance of the team’s data management structures, ensuring streamlined and effective data processing. This includes the consistent management of ACAPS’ internal monitoring systems.
Contribute to tool development to facilitate ongoing analysis and promote data and information sharing, fostering evidence-driven decisions.
Ensure mechanisms to gather and analyse feedback on the impact of produced analysis.
Design, develop, and produce analysis according to ACAPS methodology.
Networking and partnership collaboration:

In collaboration with other Senior Analysts and analysts on the team, develop and maintain a list/informal network of key interlocutors for information (including sector and agency level).
Build and nurture relationships with key regional and local informants, conducting periodic interviews to underpin analytical and research endeavors.
Represent ACAPS in regional forums pertinent to the Sudan Analysis Hub.
Any other tasks which may jointly be agreed on may be added to the job description, as per the project needs.

ACAPS values

ACAPS is a dynamic and independent organisation. We share and strive to maintain the values of agency, candour, integrity, diversity, evolution, ambition, and collaboration in everything we do. The post holder is expected to develop the position in line with these values. The ACAPS values live in the way we manage our teams, create our content and engage with stakeholders.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to diversity without distinction to age, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and physical ability.
