To provide the necessary and appropriate services and to support to ensure healthy development of the children of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals in Cox’s Bazar (CXB), we are conducting a study to investigate how ECD unfolds and how to design programs and interventions for this population. The proposed study aims to identify powerful sources of risk and resilience in this very particular culture and context, to inform and support program to design interventions to provide the much-needed support to ensure healthy development and learning within limitations, and preparing them and equipping them with human capital to navigate a very uncertain future.

Position Description:

The Senior Statistical Officer will report to the Senior Research Investigator, under the Nutrition Research Division. The position holder will be responsible to maintain and organize strong statistical data management system; Process routine statistical data and data management work of surveillance and survey; Supervise data management activities; Maintain security of database WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF supporting the PI in writing scientific report and manuscrupts WITHIN the guidelines of the research protocols; and organisational values and guidelines (such as Institutional Governance Framework – IGF and Gender Diversity Guidelines)..

S/he will be involved in –

• Organizing and planning routine statistical data processing and data management work; Maintain security of database;
• Apply statistical methods as required;
• Preparing TAB base data collection/management tools (CAPI preparation) using SurveyCTO/KOBO/ODK; Data entry format in google platform/MS Excel etc;
• Identifying and applying appropriate sampling scheme and study design for surveys and interventions respectively;
• Performing statistical quality checks on survey data, process and analyze survey data and propose estimate recommendations;
• Carrying out data curing logically, develop cleaned and matched data files, performing consistency checks according to supervisor’s instructions and coordinate with data management and scientific staffs IN ORDER TO ensure smooth data processing and management for further research;
• Controlling the process for ensuring good quality of data collection tools and devices;
• Providing necessary support to the data management team for any inconsistencies records;
• Analysing and conducting statistical / mathematical modeling on the research data; Writing manuscript;
• Developing research methods and tools in consultation with the PI; Resolve queries/questions related to the soundness of statistical methodologies IN ORDER TO enhance acceptance of new research concept to the global scientific community;
• Guiding Data Management Team to keep and improve the performance of the team; Train data collection team on newly developed data collection tools; Organizing review meetings IN ORDER TO maintain perfect data-flow system.

Required qualification and experience:

• Masters in Statistics or Applied Statistics;
• 5 years of experience in data Management and Analysis. Publication in relevant field will be an added advantage;

Location: Dhaka

Contract Type and duration:

• CSA basis for 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk 75,780/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
