An overview

The International Rescue Committee UK is part of the IRC global network, which has its headquarters in New York and London. Awards Management Unit (AMU)
Established in January 2016, the Awards Management Unit (AMU) is a global unit spanning New York, Washington DC, London, Bonn, Berlin, Brussels, Stockholm, Geneva, Nairobi, Dakar and Amman. It has responsibility for identifying, securing and managing all funding from statutory donors. The AMU is a bridge between donors and country programs: providing expert technical advice to country teams, while maintaining high-level visibility to ensure general health of the regional portfolio. This unit ensures that donor compliance, policies and procedures are implemented consistently and supports all staff working across the project management cycle for all restricted funding from global government sources. The unit operates within a matrix management system across the teams in the US and Europe, driving functional integration between all relevant units and staff, ensuring that AMU staff support the IRC global strategy and priorities.
Purpose of the Role
This role leads the Cross-Regional Integrated Support (CRIS) sub-team within the Cross-Regional team of the Awards Management Unit. The team provides support to the Regional Program & Award Support (RPAS) teams and works on cross-regional learning and award management improvements. The role coordinates with the AMU Senior Vice President, Directors of Awards Management (DAMs), and other AMU staff to optimize departmental delivery.
Key Working Relationships
•Reports to: Director, Awards Management, Cross-Regional
•Supervises: Team of 6 Program Development & Award Advisors (PDAAs) (RPAS leaders are responsible for day-to-day staff management during deployment).
•Works closely with: PAS leadership and staff; Senior Complex Award Specialists
•Other collaborators: AMU Planning & Strategic Operations team; other AMU Senior Leadership and staff

Responsibilities

The role has two main areas of responsibility:
1.Coordinating surge support to RPAS teams, and enabling cross-regional learning:
•Manage the Cross-Regional Integrated Support (CRIS) team (6 people) that provides surge support across regional PAS teams, and within strategic projects.
•Implement processes and systems that will improve surge coordination, feedback and learning across regional teams and country programs.
•Coordinate and support CRIS team to implement cross-regional delivery improvements and training.
•Acts as a trusted and accountable manager, mentor and professional resource, including promoting teamwork, enabling adequate resourcing and ensuring accountability.
2.Ensuring RPAS teams are resourced and supported to meet organisational objectives:
•Responsible for coordinating PAS team management activities to support effective running of the team.
•Work closely with the PAS leadership to identify strategic direction and priorities and translate these into annual workplans, in alignment with AMU objectives.
•Coordinate and support successful delivery of PAS annual priorities, including governance, resourcing, monitoring, and reporting.
•Improve the impact of PAS’ work by identifying and capitalizing on alignments with other initiatives within the unit and across IRC, and effectively managing interdependencies.
•Promote effective project management approaches within PAS and across AMU. Lead on central initiatives within the department as needed.
•Standardise and optimise departmental procedures and processes ensuring they are successfully embedded across the department.
•Maintain and improve PAS knowledge management to increase institutional memory including management of online collaboration tools.

Requirements

•Significant nonprofit experience in awards management and/or project delivery, including experience supporting at senior management level
•Self-directed project management experience
•A flexible work attitude and a calm manner able to function effectively under pressure
•A persuasive and collaborative style and strong problem-solving approach
•Ability to anticipate and assess situations accurately and recommend/implement effective courses of action required
•Proven experience of translating strategy into action
•People management experience, preferably team leadership experience
•Proven experience of successfully managing a portfolio of business improvement projects
•Excellent communication and engagement skills to bring colleagues with you, even against challenging deadlines and priorities
•Proven experience of developing and optimizing internal processes
•Confident with technology and strong working knowledge of online collaboration tools
Compensation:
Posted pay ranges apply to UK-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
