The role:

The Supply Chain Unit aims to enhance its internal and external profile by strengthening its operational information management (OIM) and communications capacity. To support this effort, the unit requires a dedicated Operational Information Management (OIM) Officer to develop and manage information and communication products across various levels, including the Area Office, Country Office, and Regional Bureau.

As part of the Supply Chain team, the OIM Officer will lead and contribute to a range of information management (IM) initiatives, ensuring effective outreach and engagement. The incumbent is expected to demonstratea high level of autonomy, proactively identifying and driving new initiatives.

The incumbent will report to the Humanitarian Logistics Services coordinator under the Deputy Head of Supply Chain in Kabul and collaborate closely with other Supply Chain units, the Country Office (CO), the Regional Bureau (RBB), and Headquarters (HQ) as needed.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Operational Information Management:

  • Develop and implement an OIM strategy for the Supply Chain Unit, ensuring alignment with WFP standards.
  • Support supply chain cross-functional reporting to ensure that standard OIM procedures and templates are followed to drive the quality, consistency and standardisation of information management and performance reporting across Supply Chain
  • Assess, evaluate, and enhance existing information management systems, including reporting, databases, dashboards, and tools, to improve data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide training to WFP Supply Chain staff to standardize and strengthen IM practices.

2. Reporting, Analysis &Data Collection:

  • Serve as a focal point for consolidating and updating all key Supply Chain corporate reports, including (APP, ACR, Risk register, Assurance Plan, Audit and Oversight reports and any other reports as required)
  • Collect, consolidate, and share key Supply Chain data from corridor countries, field offices, and the Country Office (CO) in Afghanistan.
  • Produce weekly, bi-weekly, and ad-hoc reports, including the Concept of Operations, Weekly Supply Chain Report, and Bi-Weekly Senior Management Report to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Support the Logistics Working Group & On-Demand Services Unit with IM-related tasks.
  • Serve as the focal point for the Partnerships Unit, ensuring accurate donor and partner reporting, identifying trends and issues, and presenting recommendations for senior management decision-making.

3. Communication & Information Dissemination:

  • Develop and manage communication materials for the Unit, ensuring all outputs meet WFP standards and are available on relevant platforms for internal and external sharing.
  • Coordinate with the VAM Unit to create, maintain, and update Supply Chain-relevant maps (e.g., ConOps, Corridors, Procurement, Warehouse Capacity).
  • Liaise with Supply Chain focal points in RBB and HQ for sharing and publishing WFP Afghanistan Supply Chain information.

4. Internal Coordination & Meeting Support:

  • Facilitate and support internal Supply Chain Unit meetings, including preparing meeting minutes (NFRs) and tracking action points.
  • Provide WFP’s IM and Reports Officer with Supply Chain activity updates and support submissions for various WFP reports and logistics information requests.
  • Support CO Supply Chain focal points in collecting logistics information for updates to the Logistics Capacity Assessment (LCA).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

Advanced University degree preferably in socialsciences,internationalrelations,communications, journalism, or related field, or First University degree with additional two years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience:

Atleast oneyearof post graduate professionalexperienceinaninternationalcontextinthefield of information management.

Languages:

Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and local languages (Pashto/Dari).

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Abilitytomeetdeadlinesandworkunderpressureaspartofateam.
  • Strongwritten and visual communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge quickly.
  • Experience with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of information management and communications systems, including analytics.
  • Ability to keep abreast of latest trends in communications methods.
