Aga Khan Education Service, Afghanistan (AKES, A) started its operation in Afghanistan in 2004. Ever since, AKES, A has been providing quality ECD and non-formal education programs that benefitted thousands of children and students living in marginalized areas.

Currently, AKES, A is operating in 7 provinces namely Kabul, Bamyan, Baghlan, Kunduz, Balkh, Samangan, and Badakhshan reaching over 25,000 children and students through one Central Office in Kabul, and three Regional Offices. Currently, it is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Teacher, English based in the Dehkhudaidad Kabul.

Job Description:

Curriculum Delivery:

• Plan the sequence of tests, lessons, and quizzes on a termly basis in effective collaboration with the learning unit and regional office teams.

• Plan lessons and deliver effective lessons to students of different age groups and proficiency levels using a variety of teaching methods and resources.

• Develop, adopt, or adapt engaging learning materials using available resources.

• Monitor students’ learning, conduct quizzes and tests, and provide constructive feedback or remedial sessions for low achievers.

• Assign relevant daily homework and weekly projects, regularly checking them and providing feedback.

Student Support:

• Provide academic support and guidance to students to help them achieve their language learning goals.

• Adopt a positive and respectful learning environment where students feel motivated and supported in their language learning journey.

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to address any concerns or issues related to student progress.

Professional Development:

• Continuously enhance teaching skills and knowledge through professional development opportunities.

• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources for English language instruction.

• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops to stay abreast of developments in English language teaching.

Administrative Tasks:

• Collaborate with regional leadership and colleagues to contribute to the overall success of the English language program.

• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and progress reports.

• Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities to ensure alignment with academic standards and learning objectives.

• Carry out the roles and responsibilities in a way which reflects AKESA’s commitment to protecting children, beneficiaries, partners, community members and employees in accordance with Safeguarding Manual and Child Safeguarding Policy.

Occasional Significant Duties and Responsibilities:

• Take active participation in meetings and workshops for quality improvement or professional development.

• Influence and motivate the staff, students, and parents to work as a team.

• Provide cover for other teachers when on leave, taking into account the possibilities.

Job Requirements:

1. Required:

▪ A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in English Language Teaching or English Language and Literature with a minimum of 2 or more years’ experience in English Language teaching is required.

▪ Advanced (CEFR B2/ C1+) for urban areas as assessed during the recruitment process.

2. Desired:

▪ TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or EnglishScore.

▪ Basic ICDL Certificate.
