Additional Requirements

  • Masters /MBA degree in Social and development studies.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the development sector as a Gender Expert preferably in INGOs with Rohingya response.
  • Sound experience of Gender responsive approaches.
  • Profound experience in supporting women in skills development, SMEs and employment.
  • Profound experience in training, moderation, facilitation and liaison.
  • Experience in designing and developing gender related guidelines, modules, training content and gender mainstreaming in skills and capacity building, especially with vulnerable girls and women.
  • Experience/knowledge on women empowerment methods, such as GALS.

Responsibilities & Context

  • The technical expert will be responsible for implementing the GBV components of the project. S/he will also be responsible for ensuring the established WFIS are fully functional and social hubs for productivity and a safe zone for women and other minorities.
  • At the same time, s/he will provide psychological support to the GBV victims. S/he will also be responsible for collaborating with the trainers to provide gender-focused life skills training, prepare/modify training modules as needed and conduct orientation/training sessions with other team members.
  • Managing responsibly the gender responsive approach of the project in all project objectives.
  • Establish WFIS as hubs for economic activity and social interaction, fostering a sense of community and reducing inter-group tensions.
  • Providing gender relevant advisory services to the partners (If needed).
    Support the creation of gender responsive vocational orientation approaches, as well in employment opportunities for girls and women with vulnerable background.
  • Assist in identifying creative, innovative approaches to challenges and on how to address specific issues such as the inclusion of women with disabilities into skills development.
  • Work closely together with the Gender Focal Point on Sectors and Country level.
  • Effectively cooperating with the monitoring officer, communication officer and other technical protect colleagues to make sure that gender responsive approaches are applied across all project activities and the target.
  • Acting as liaison person for the project vis-à-vis international and national stakeholders in the gender field.
  • Coordination and establish linkage between relevant local authorities.
  • Carrying out the operational planning of the project.
    Provide technical guidance to ensure quality of project’s gender responsive activities.
  • Ensure capacity development of the representatives of the local state and non-state actors in gender mainstreaming, advocacy and skills development for women with low educational background.
  • Ensuring due consideration of Cordaid’s (capacity development, gender and disability, do-no-harm, beneficiary participation) in project activities.
  • Providing technical guidance and assistance to implementing partners, government entities and service providers.
  • Contributing to knowledge management, documentation and reporting obligations.
  • Facilitates interactions with key stakeholders, including high-level senior government officials.
  • Organizes and moderate events, dialogues, workshops, training and meetings.
  • Builds up a reliable cooperation structures in the entrusted field, involving key local state and non-state actors, service providers.
  • Monitors the achievements of project’s target. Reviews field reports, analyzes field data and formulates conclusions, discussion points and recommendations for all stakeholders.
  • Collects information within the project and reports about the results, specifics, budget and expenditures and possible deviations following required reporting standards, providing solutions to minimize impact of deviations.
  • Leads and coaches the multidisciplinary, intercultural and inter-gender project team on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the management style of Cordaid, focused on productivity, the professional development of staff and employee satisfaction. Coaches staff and leaves room for professional freedom to determine how to execute the work.
  • Builds on the strengths and talents of staff members to improve team performance. Emphasis teamwork, project-based working and commitment.
  • Ensures efficient use of resources and controls quality of work.
  • Showcases integrity standards as outlined in Cordaid’s integrity policies.
  • Fulfills integrity responsibilities as outlined in Cordaid’s Integrity Framework and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Actively contributes to a safe environment within their scope of influence by encouraging dialogue, trust, and understanding and adherence to Cordaid’s integrity standards and procedures.
  • Supports the project’s security and risk management system through identification, communication and analysis of potential risks and security issues in the project region and related mitigation recommendations and procedures.
  • Other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor to support program implementation, including for other project output.
