  • Master’s in Social Science, MPH will be preferable.

  • At least 5 years

Additional Requirements

  • At least 5 years of working experience, and a minimum of 3 years working experience in the field of maternal, newborn and child health, and Family Planning (FP).
  • Experience to working with District and below level LGIs is essential.
  • S/he must have the capacity to coordinate and collaborate effectively with MOHFW divisional/district authorities and different government units/departments at divisional/district level.
  • The potential candidate should have sound knowledge on Bangladesh health system, MOLGRD &C and community engagement.
  • S/he should have sound knowledge on challenges of maternal and newborn health (MNH) program and better understanding of Bangladesh health service delivery system.
  • Excellent skills in coordinating with LGIs in terms of planning and implementation at the district and below level.
  • Appropriate computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The Opportunity

  • Technical Specialist-Local Govt. Coordination is responsible for overall capacity building and effective engagement of local government institutions (LGIs), division to union level, in maternal and newborn health initiatives of the project. S/he will coordinate with local government bodies from division to union level for exploring opportunities of resource mobilization, revitalization & utilization of existing committees/platforms for strengthening social accountability and community engagement. S/he will also lead the process of functioning of union level relevant standing committee (e.g., Education Health and Family Planning Standing Committees) and health facility management committee (Union Health & Family Welfare Centre Management Committee) as well as capacity building initiatives for these committees for better engagement in maternal and newborn health activities. S/he will closely work with implementing partner to guide and support including capacity strengthening for implementing the project activities regarding LGI initiatives at district and below level. S/he will be responsible to introduce relevant tools to document and disseminate project’s learning based on developed learning agenda related with local govt. S/he will be responsible to capture learning, lesson learnt, case stories, photos etc. related with local govt coordination. S/he will prepare advocacy and campaign plan engaging LGI and community and implement the plan. S/he will reach out to several relevant stakeholders through the lens of sustainability and work for sustainability.
