Best Friends Travel & Tour (BFTT), dully registered since 2016 by the Afghan-Tour of Ministry of Culture & Information under license number: ATO-KBL-349 as travel & tour operating Company, has been providing & supporting ticket, visa, and insurance to various valuable clients in Afghanistan. With the goal to provide and offer every possible travel services and thrive to made international standards accessible locally. Our goal is to be the best in terms of delivering unparalleled services. BFTT prides itself for being one of the few companies in Afghanistan, which follows the IATA guidelines & standards as it is the official partner of IATA registered, and instructions in its operations. In addition, we have been having been delivering travel services during strict Covid19 regulations by supporting our passengers to travel with confidence while guiding and ensuring safety and distance measures on board and while transitions.
Job Summary
We are seeking an Interpretive Guide to provide personal interactions with foreign guests/tourists & act as a Guide & interpreter who is very good in understanding history, historical places, Afghan culture, religion & cultural awareness & sensitivities; offers guest assistance and enhances exhibit experience for the tourists; serves as a host. Ideal candidates must have excellent people skills and a strong attention to detail. This position reports directly to the Tour Coordinator.

We are currently seeking adventurers and outgoing individuals to join the tour department for our 2024 Tour Guide Season in Afghanistan.
Duties & Responsibilities
Guiding on a walk (In town)
- Facilitate trip programs (Tour, adventure & study tour) with or without a co-leader.
- Work with Tour Coordinator to facilitate trip programs.
- Supervise, engage and build community with tourists.
- Understand the area to which you are traveling and be prepared with all necessary supplies and tools.
- Communicate periodically to tour group with status updates and in case of emergencies.
- Make safe judgement calls for situations that account for all tourist and staff needs and abilities.
- Lead safe, programmed, skill building, and fun off-site trips. Maintain awareness and supervision of tourists & travelers.
- Follow tour safety guidelines; follow National Park/Forest regulations and always abide by “leave no trace” guidelines.
- Lead Members, guests, and prospects on tour & travel within cities and rural areas in Afghanistan.
- Coaching & teaching walking & communicating ethics within local communities, climbing, and talking to locals.
- Promotes safety amongst all during lessons/trips
- Share passion for the outdoors
- Operate company vehicles when necessary, including Toyota 2000 car or land-cruisers
- Provide excellent customer service and remarkable experience for our clients.
- Work with a variety of personalities and need to make clients feel safe and comfortable, while delivering information in an understandable manner with respect to individual learning preferences.
- Always maintain a professional, attentive presence.
Guiding in a site
- To have or gain detailed knowledge of museum or art gallery, and archaeological sites prior to visit.
- To arrange booking the site one or two days prior to visit, and consider male/female visiting schedule by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
- To prepare and abide by all the regulations and standards in places of worship or sacred site, battlefield or others as per location.
Due Care;
- Always maintain a professional, and attentive presence.
- Maintain an attitude with highest assertiveness, yet not being personal to the assignment.
- Follow emergency care procedures in the event of an injury or emergency.
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree holders are highly preferred, whilst high school diploma or 14th Grade education is required.
- Fluent in English, Pashto and Dari (for English Tourists) or
- Fluent in Arabic, Pashto and Dari (for Arab Tourists) or
- Fluent in French, Pashto and Dari (for French Tourists) or
- Fluent in German, Pashto and Dari (for German Tourists) or
- Fluent in Russian, Pashto and Dari (for Russian Tourists) or
- Fluent in Chinese, Pashto and Dari (for Chinese Tourists)
- Valid Driver’s License
- A commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, equity, and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- One or more seasons of related experience required.
- Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
- Knowledge and skills in program activities and related equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques.
- Required: Experience in leading trip/travel program and/or personal outdoor experience.
- Required: Wilderness First Aid or First Responder (must have by the start of staff training).
- Completed Travel Guide & interpreter training course.
Job Requirements
- Must have managerial, coaching and leadership skills and experience working with adults and/or senior citizens.
- Significant experience and skill with at least one outdoor activity.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
- Strong teaching skills.
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must be 20 years of age or older.
